What is the fastest FTP program? I currently use FileZilla, but it goes very slow for me (60kb/second). Are there any faster programs?
I need to transfer 25GB of content, and I calculated that it would take well over 100 hours to do the entire transfer. The price is not important to me (as long as it is reasonable), as long as it is much faster.

The fastest? That uh...depends on how fast you can download/upload lol. I use FlashFXP and have been using it for ages.

Is that kB or kb? 60KB upload roughly equal about 512kbps upstream. Most cable providers give like 384 or 512 up, so you're exhausting you upstream if you just have a standard home cable account.

connection speed doesn't usually have anything to do with the program itself, but more your internet connection.

However I think I'll be going from server to server (I'm upgrading one of my sites from a VPS to a dedicated), so I think that my connection speed doesn't matter.

Make sure you can FXP from both servers (modify the pure-ftpd.conf file -- if using PureFTPD).

For an FXP client I would highly recommend FlashFXP.

Depends on how it's being done. If it's FXP, it's server-to-server without any downloading or uploading from your computer. If FXP isn't enabled in the ftp daemon configuration, your client may switch to a 'bridged' method where it will download the file to your computer, and upload to the source.

60KB/s upload is reasonable. My DSL only gets 30KB/s upload.

I'd just like to add another recommendation for FlashFXP. I've been using it for a year or two and actually paid for it when my 30-day trial ran out (usually just uninstall after the trial).

Like those above, I'd have to recommend FlashFXP -- Whether it is or isn't, it really does seem a lot faster than other programs I've used. Regardless of speed though, it has a clean layout and is very easy to use.

I use WS_FTP Pro 2006 and i love it. FlashFXP is good, but i only use it for FTP to FTP transfers.

I like CuteFTP Pro. I have been using it for years and have never had any issues with it.
