I don't know why these things always happen to me but it is so incredibly annoying!!!

I have a very strange icon probem on my computer all of a sudden. If you visit the below link I quickly show the problem there:

http://www.jaguarstables.com/iconprob.html

Does anybody here by any chance know what the problem could be... has this ever happened to anybody here? I have tried re-saving the PSD image... but when I do... the icon still shows up messed up looking.

I do NOT understand why on earth simply moving the icon from one folder to another folder on my desktop screwed up the icon like this!

I am seriously about to do a factory restore on my computer but am worried even if I do it won't be fixed. It's not doing this to all icons... only certain PSD icons... very strange that my other PSD icons are perfectly fine... only a few certain ones are showing up messed up looking for no reason!

The icons open up just fine... but there is a problem because the icon looks really messed up!

Arrrghhh! :(

It's a simple problem and I'll try to explain it.

In your first screenshot, you have the View set to Tiles. Go to the top bar, View -> Tiles should be set.

In the second screenshot, that folder's view is set to Thumbnails. Go to the top bar, View -> change to Tiles.

The problem that the Thumbnail icon looks "black" or "distorted" is because the thumbnail is supposed to show only images (JPEG, BMP, etc) and videos (MPG, AVI, etc) but Windows has some how associated the Photoshop extension PSD with some kind of image or video.

So Windows is trying to "preview" the PSD, but it won't come out correctly because it's not an image or video!

Oh wow... you are absolutely correct! :D

Thanks a million... I was about to restore my entire computer because I thought maybe somethine was corrupt. So you just saved me a ton of time and hassle.

The reason it was also so confusiing is because most of my PSD icons display correctly under the thumbnail setting... so I didn't even think to mess around with that setting. I have now set it to tiles and the icons are now displaying correctly.

Thanks a million, glad to have gotten that fixed and out of the way :D

Glad you didn't have to reinstall!
