IMHO, I think it depends on how the ads are placed on a webhosting site.

If it is on your hosting site, then maybe its ok. If its on your customers websites, then think again.

I don't think it's ok, it seems the web host doesn't have money, and I doubt you make money on an institutional web site. Not worth it, you would loose credibility I guess.

It's "ads", not "ad's" ;)

If you run a business where people pay money for a service, I feel that it would be very unprofessional to have advertisements placed on your website.

I think ads have no place in either case. If you're talking about putting them on your own website that sells hosting, it tells potential customers that you aren't making any money with your hosting business. If you're talking about putting ads on the websites of paying customers, then you would only want to do that if you're providing the service for free or at a discounted rate.

Absolutely agree. If I see a hosting company that charges for services and displays ads (regardless where it is), then it would make me think "hmm, looks like they aren't doing too well". Now they could be, but that's the impression I get...

Terribly unprofessional on your site or your customers.

I'd never touch a host that ran ads on any of its pages.

Unprofessional and only serves to distract potential customers from your offers/services/plans.

Only if they are non-profit, and it is obvious that they are non-profit.

Never.

As so many have stated here it would be very unprofessional to say the least.

As many of the people said above. If it's a FREE hosting company i would recommend it but not for a payed hosting company. You will push people away from purchasing your service if you display ads. Just my 2cents.
