What is the error message that you get? And are you sending the mail from the localhost (e.g. when logged onto the Cobalt or from a script) or are you using the SMTP service?

I get mail, but it doesn't go out. I get an error message. What am I doing wrong? Chicken 02-01-2001, 11:21 PM You need to install pop-auth to send mail through the server from your ISP account (which is what you are doing). -Or use your ISP's SMTP server to send out mail. Some ISP's won't even relay the mail anyhow (even with pop-auth). Things we need to know: Error message. ISP you use to connect to the internet. Haave you installed pop-auth? jtan15 02-01-2001, 11:36 PM gsu90: I understand they are moving servers, so this thread might have gotten caught somewhere. Pop-auth is an authentication process where users have to authenticate to send e-mail, instead of anyone being allowed to use smtp.yourname.com. You'd need a user/pass to send mail using it. Chicken 02-01-2001, 11:51 PM The way that's just we do things here around bass ackwards. See, even the post isn't what I put! Buggy board. Maybe if we move it enough times the forums will switch around too! (*Crosses fingers*). gsu90 02-02-2001, 12:20 AM First of all, how did Vincent Paglione's post get ahead of mine when I am the one who started this thread? Secondly, what is "pop-auth" and how do I install it? |
