now usually it's MCHost that is being ripped. How many sites use the same layout or graphics as MCHost...dozens.

Honestly, these pages (except for having the same font and a grey space filler in the side that I have seen many times) look nothing alike...I could not look at the two and say it's outright plagurism...Sorry. Besides...how many new unique things can be done with a site before ideas are run out and everyone is practically stealing someone else's style... even if one design is inspired by another, both are different enough that it would be nearly undetectable and very hard to point fingers at whom inspired whom. I do see what you mean though...the little pic, the grey bar, the nav dropdown....

However, like I said, MCHost is being copied almost daily...I would give the benefit of the doubt to MCHost given their history and values... Marc is always very vocal about his distaste for people that "borrow".

There is one small part on the left with the picture and the dotted tables and some of the table colors and dropbox, but I think it's good inspiration if anything, not copied stright out. As I've said, that's how inpiration should be done, not this crazy exact copy and take off the host name and crappily put your name in the same place.

A lot of people have the same layout...

I don't think the layout is ripped at all.. There are only few similarities between the too, which I think are a result of inspiration... nothing more.

If that's a rip, I'll gladly eat my hat. :D

Marc from mchost is one of the most reputable blokes around. His work is constantly getting ripped. :rolleyes: :eek3:

I bit similar, but not enough so to call it a rip...not near enough. I have known Marc for a while, and I can tell you that he is a talented designer and would never snoop to this level.

There's a long list of companies who copied MCHost - they are a excellent ISP and there's a reason for people copying layout and text from them :) don't hesitate... excellent service guaranteed :)

Ever think, that maybe it was by the same design(er)/team? Very well possible. Or maybe even the same company, and in the same network. I bet you they are related that way some how.

You can not begin to state that web sites are ripped off one another, if there was never a web site that ripped anything off of another. We would still be in the age, where the Internet and Web Sites were nothing but TEXT, no graphics, no tables, no flash, no movies, no music.

Yes I agree with people who completely steal a design without asking, but when you use it for ispiration, that is awesome. Keep up the great work to those who do that. Just come on... Realize that the majority of sites out there, are unquie. Although some of there content or vision might be shared with another web site. Who cares. Thats the Web Site game.

While there are some scummy people out there that steal designs and stick their logo into them, for the most part, all this talk of 'stolen' designs because of some similarity on pages is IMHO hella lame and just an excuse to bash people.

I admit that I choosed a wrong thread title. It looks like I blame MChost for stealing layouts... but it was totally not my intention to cause damage (that's what you say). I posted this cause I wanted to know who copied from who.

Yes, I think you chose the wrong thread title and the answer is no. Next time email both parties and ask when it is a minor, small section of a site in question.
