BrookeM 08-03-2006, 04:12 PM It depends on your web hosting plan. Ask you hosting provider or read the package features. Good Luck! That's correct. You may be able to host two different websites with those domains, redirect one domain to point to the website of the other domain, or you may be able to do neither of those things. It all depends on what your host allows you to do. vbness 08-03-2006, 11:16 PM Ops, well I mean. I have two different websites with different purposes. I want to use two domains with the same hosting account. Addon Domains? Oceanworld 08-04-2006, 01:03 AM Ops, well I mean. I have two different websites with different purposes. I want to use two domains with the same hosting account. Addon Domains? You sure can with packages that offer multiple Addon Domains. All your websites (different domains) can be hosted on just that one account. vbness 08-04-2006, 12:52 PM I am really confused. Okay, let's say I manage a website called myfirstdomain.com. Afterwards, I bought myseconddomain.com. I don't know what to fill in. New Domain Name: Username/directory/subdomain Name: Password: The first fill in I put -- myseconddomain.com The password is self-explanitory I don't understand what they mean by "Username/directory/subdomain Name:" Do I first create a subdomain before going to addon domains? For example create myseconddomain.myfirstdomain.com (myfirstdomain.com/myseconddomain) Thanks! rjkeller 08-04-2006, 01:04 PM No, when you add a add-on domain, it creates a subdomain of your choice (hence the field name) that your domain will point to, as well as the folder (with the name you put in) where you put your sites files. So in your site folder, it'll create a folder (whatever value you put in for "directory/subdomain") that you put your files in and it'll appear under that domain. Your control panel will also create a subdomain with the same name, so a copy of your site under mydomain2.com will appear under mydomain2.myfirstdomain.com. Hope that answers your question :). --R.J. vbness 08-05-2006, 01:49 AM hmmm my second domain works, but it redirects to (for example) myfirstdomain.com/myseconddomain, how come? can it act as its own domain? Bashar 08-06-2006, 11:00 AM this is how addon domains work but it supposed to to stay as mysecondomain.com in the URL bar, although it depends on the server/control panel you're using. best thing would be asking your hosting support for details |
