You should really post this in your own forums. You have RS sales and support posting in that forum that there are no plans to offer Ensim 3.1 at this time.

headsurfer 06-06-2002, 06:07 PM UPDATE:
These will be our first servers with Ensim 3.1 . Then, the new line of servers available next week will have Ensim 3.1 as well.
Robert
cperciva 06-06-2002, 06:12 PM Somewhat OT, but... when are you going to start offering FreeBSD?
Deahost 06-06-2002, 06:21 PM What about upgrades for existing customers?
Will they get a chance to get there Ensim upgraded at all?
Thanks,
Brian

Tazzman 06-06-2002, 08:58 PM Ensim 3.1 is free for exhisting customers of Ensim, so just download your licence file (just in case) and use the update script Ensim will be releasing in a few weeks time. You could also do as I am doing. Cleaning up the entire server, updating to Redhat 7.2 and then doing a fresh install of Ensim LS3.1 (no, I'm not @ Rackshack). Aren't I glad I had that second harddrive installed in my server to put backups on :D

Thats what I want, FreeBSD and no control panel, and that'll be perfect....

Might be hard for rackshack to implament. Of course i dont mean to sound negative, but im sure with the amount of staff they have, many aren't that qualified as sys admins, putting in FreeBSD might be a support kick in the butt for them, as they'll likely have few people qualified to deal with it. I could be wrong, but from what we all see/hear daily, I'm probably not :)
The Prohacker 06-06-2002, 11:59 PM As much as their tech support does, I don't think it would be much of a change :D
And frankly that'd be a good thing, if I got a FreeBSD server with the hardware above, the only thing they'd hear from me is when I want another one because it full...

Robert So that means that the servers today (Friday) will have Ensim Webppliance 3.1? As you said earlier to my reply that it will be 3.0.
Does anyone know how stable 3.1 is?

TicToc 06-07-2002, 08:08 AM Rackshack.net Friday 10 Am CST Special
what is CST? is it central time. I am in the UK so if someone could explain the difference to GMT it would be appreciated
Thanks
Woser 06-07-2002, 08:11 AM CST is central standard time.. which is -6 GMT
TicToc 06-07-2002, 08:12 AM Thank you :)
its appreciated
mbarron 06-07-2002, 08:13 AM These servers sound like fun, hope I get lucky and score one.
ho247 06-07-2002, 08:17 AM Btw... it wouldn't make that much of a difference to get one of these special servers today as similar offers will be available on Wednesday as HeadSurfer said in a previous post in this thread. I guess these special servers probably have the extra RAM in it, as I would expect the new offers to only have 512MB instead of the 1GB of RAM in these servers today. To bad I'm not in need of a server... as I do fancy one with 1GB of RAM and the new Ensim Webappliance 3.1 :).

TicToc 06-07-2002, 11:56 AM where are they? have they gone?
jeff-ev1 06-07-2002, 12:21 PM We are waiting on a shipment of memory for the Celeron 1.2 machines that was supposed to be here early this morning. It has not arrived as of yet and probably will not get here until Monday, so the machines will not be up for sale until the memory gets in.
We have lowered the setup fees substantially on the Celeron 1.3 machines that are currently available in the Bargain Basement.
We apologize for the delay.
Jeff
