Hi,

After reading this forum I wonder what reselling really is. In my eyes there are 3 different programs:

1) You get for excample 10% of the revenue made, a sort of pay per sale program, only than recurring. This way you will act as first contact person and can not set your own prices.

2) You buy a package, and you can charge what ever you want. For excample, you buy a $20 dollar package and charge $30 dollar for the complete package. Or you get it with a discount and charge more for it than you pay. This way you buy and sell per package.

3) You but a for excample $50 dollar package with 5 GB space and 50GB bandwidth. YOu are allowed to do everythin you want, so you can make a package which has 500MB space and 5GB bandwidth per customer and charge $10 dollar per package. This way you make $50 dollar profit. which you can raise by raising your prices. You can set your own prices (duh). This way you buy one package and sell more by splitting it.

Am I correct with these 3 options? Are there more, or am I wrong at some points?

I don't believe that most would consider #4 a "Reseller."
Although, in many ways, *every*one is a reseller in some form or another.

Tnx. To prevent that this topic turns out in a #4 is not considered as reseller, I will remove that line.

Jacco Don't take my word for it.
Others may have a difference of opinion. :)
And I thought you wanted to know if your assumptions were the views of most.
Leave it in. See what happens. If you take it out now, maybe someone will add it later.
On a personal note; I can not think of any position I would consider to *not* be a reseller.
However, your first three numbered definitions are what I believe you are actually referring to when you mention the name "Reseller."

No, I think you are right. I may be insulting people since it is not actually reselling when you hire a dedicated server and than start selling packages. I will leave it this way, since the thread was about the first three ones (which I am most interested in).
Now let's see what happens :D

I would think #3 is the most common form of reselling, most users purchase the whole package and then try to make a profit by setting up there own plans.... In my opinion it's probably the most effective method...

I would consider #1 to more of an affiliate or referral program, but for 10% I would not expect anyone to do their own support. You deleted #4 before I could see it.

Strictly, everyone is a reseller. Unless you own your data center *and* all your fiber. Just a matter of degree.
