Hello,

I'm looking for some good e-commerce solution script to run online-shop.

I prefere to be writen in php - using mySql or postgres database. It doesnt need to be for free [open source]. The most important is stability of aplication and user friendly interface. Of course it need to be safe.

It should be able to handle ca. 1000 products in database [dont know how many customers - thats the new project, we dont know how successful it will be].

And the other thing is - im looking for some good e-merchant company that will provide me payments online facility. I'm based in UK, and all the customers will be paying in GBP, so if you know any good company - let me know pls.
I were using protx .com and fasthosts .com solution, but i know there is a lot of other companies. I heard that WorldPay is quite good.

If anyone can help me with my questions - will be really greateful.

Cheers

I can't help you with the merchant stuff over there but I have used X-Cart http://x-cart.com quite a bit and I think they are an excellent shopping cart. They have good support as well.

Have a look at www.jshop.co.uk - it's developed in the UK and is obviously UK friendly. It's very stable, totally customisable for any type of design (unlike most carts), tons of features and runs on php/mysql.

Payment methods, well Protx seems fine despite a blip last year, Worldpay are good but a little pricey.

Have you looked at osCommerce yet? An outstanding piece of online store software. We've used it before (not with hosting) and it has worked perfectly for our needs.

I don't suggest osCommerce because it's very difficult to customize design, and it's difficult in the terms of support, because everytime you change design of your web site you should hack osCommerce codes.

Have you investigated whoiscart.net?

I am not customer but plan to purchase soon either whoiscart or x-cart.

Good luck.

I was just looking at whoiscart and it seems pretty decent. They seem to have all the basic features one would need. Sort of comparable to the LiteCommerce software that is put out by the X-Cart developers.

cubecart and zencart could be better choice.

For open source, cubecart, oscommerce, and zencart are the most popular.

For commercial versions, x-cart, pinnaclecart, and squirrelcart are quite nice and seem to be pretty robust in features.
