My partner and I are starting a web design and hosting company and we are thinking about advertising in the yellow pages. It would cost us about $500 a month for a decent size ad. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this or if they think it is worth it.

Those are two semi-recent past discussions, maybe someone has some updated experiences, new experiences. etc., that they can post about...

Greetings:
Our parent company advertised in the local area yellow pages for over five years before deciding it was not worth it.
Only one sale was attributable to the ad, and the value of the sale did not make up for one year let alone five years.
Of note, we did get a number of calls (12 to 20 per year) from the advertisements in the yellow pages asking about our Internet dial up services (not existent).
If you believe your business will be mostly local, your best bet is to join your local chamber of commerce and network like crazy.
Thank you.
