Bit of a newbie here. My hosting company (addr) does not allow more than one ftp. They told me to find an ftp script, but couldn't point me in any directions. Anybody? Thanks in advance for any clues.

Dan Roth jtan15 02-01-2001, 06:46 PM I have never heard of a method to create more FTP accounts via a "script." It sounds rather impossible, unless you are referring to something else. If you need extra FTP accounts, your best bet is to go to another host who offers them. Hope this helps you. :) Chicken 02-01-2001, 11:17 PM The only thing I can thing of are home page scripts that allow mutiple user names so they can upload sites via a web-based interface of sorts. This must be what they are talking about, and I don't think it is what you are looking for. Many of these are riddled with security holes. Find a host that offers additional true FTP accounts. buster 02-05-2001, 11:30 AM Chicken, I think that's what they are speaking of. There is not really that much of a security issue because there would be no link to the site and nothing really there, I just brought an extra 50 megs of space with no domain so I can get around when someone needs to send me a large email (over my attachment limit) Theres is a 30 day money back deal so I just may skip this little adventure. but, Could you point me to those things your speaking about? Chicken 02-05-2001, 12:01 PM Something like: http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Virtual_Communities/ http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Content_Management/ http://www.hotscripts.com/Perl/Scripts_and_Programs/Content_Management/ http://www.hotscripts.com/Perl/Scripts_and_Programs/Virtual_Communities/ -should get you going. allan 02-07-2001, 01:15 AM If you are looking for simply a web-based file uploader, take a look at these: http://www.hotscripts.com/Perl/Scripts_and_Programs/File_Manipulation/Upload_Systems/ Somehwere I have a script that uploads the files to a unique directory depending on which user name and password is entered. I'll see if I can find it for you. As Chicken has already pointed there are a lot of potential security holes in these types of scripts. |
