View Full Version : Any thoughts on Burlee?
rahul137 02-01-2001, 04:40 PM Hello,
This bulletin board is a real find! I am new here, please help me out :)
Does anybody have any experiences/thoughts on Burlee Networks shared hosting they can tell me about? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of developer community reviews on them, though they have high ratings on hostindex.com and other canned (in my opinion) review sites which i have learnt to distrust!
I am basically looking for headache-free uptime on ASP pages that connect to an Access database and fast internet connectivity.
Rahul

rahul137 02-01-2001, 05:48 PM Thanks a WHOLE LOT!! I already saw the search feature and used it. If you go and look carefully at the search results you will find there isn't a great deal of information there. It is mostly about comparing Burlee to FutureQuest or some other host and the threads don't have much about Burlee at all. That is why I wrote I didn't find much info on Burlee.
-Edward- 02-01-2001, 06:00 PM all i can say is they have the best site design for a webhost ive ever seen :).
SI-Chris 02-01-2001, 06:12 PM I was just looking at the Burlee site the other day--nice design. What I didn't like (or rather, what would keep me from signing up with them) is the price. The baseline price for the hosting packages is a little high although still acceptible, but they really hit you if you want anything extra. Look at https://www.burlee.com/webhosting/order_form.asp. They charge extra for just about everything. I understand how some things require time for a tech to set up, but a monthly charge for custom error pages and a catch-all e-mail? Why? And look at the extra bandwidth charges: $50 a gigbyte! Yikes!

Sorry, I did not mean for it to come off the way you obviously took it. I did look throught the results, but took that to mean that since some of these posts are very recent that this was representative of what people on this site knew.
rahul137 02-01-2001, 08:39 PM That's OK...these underperforming, lying web hosts have been getting to me. If it was any other product these companies would have been lawsuited out of business long ago. I am probably going to give burlee a try since nobody has anything bad to say besides hidden costs. If their server uptime and ASP performance is good then I think it is not a bad price to pay $20/month or so...
<<ADMIN EDIT>>
Thread was about Burlee, not what was posted.
Due to live order link, post deleted.

cbaker17 02-01-2001, 09:52 PM Hmm im not overly impressed.... maybe im missing something
me either...nothing to jump up and down at..no offense.
IfGodB4U 08-15-2001, 05:21 PM I've been with Burlee for a little over 2 years now and I have no complaints! This is the only company I've ever hosted with and I've asked them many questions in the past . . . all were answered in a timely basis!
I've even send them emails in the middle of the night and when I went to my PC the next morning, there was a response.
As far as the phone support, I have NEVER gotten a recording or been placed on hold! ALWAYS A FRIENDLY PERSON on the other end of the line!
I don't know how to begin to describe the patience I received when I first started with them . . . I was so green and it seemed as if I was calling several times a month! Each time their customer support got my questions answered and I felt as if they really cared about me. Let me tell you - looking back, I feel as if they had the patience of Job with me.
I read another post where a reviewer was blasted because he was getting advertising from Burlee . . . I don't receive pay from them! I pay them for hosting my site . . . therefore I have nothing to gain by my review! In fact, I have gained already - by having a site that is consistently up, customer support that is consistently patient as well as available and informative!
I've also read a few complaints about the cost - I will address that too! I look at it like I get what I pay for . . . all the above!
If you are considering Burlee, I ask you one question! Is it worth it to you to give them a try for at least 30 days?
Satisfied Burlee Customer!
Chicken 08-15-2001, 09:23 PM I figure I'll mention it before someone else does. Don't take this the wrong way, but people like to check speeds, ping the site etc, can you list your URL in your profile?
bigmattyh 08-16-2001, 03:05 AM I had great service with Burlee. Their support was always thorough and quick -- and their professionalism really made a positive impression on me.
You do have to pay for what you get, though. Burlee does nickel-and-dime you for just about everything. So if you need a big plan with lots of features, make sure you are familiar with all the little charges before signing up.
I'd highly recommend them as a newbie hosting service, for a hobbyist, or for a larger company that can afford their bigger digs.
