Hey Guys,

Okay I'm just about to start up my own business and I'm finalizing payment issues.

How would I go about creating my own page, forms etc and just using payment to process it?

By process I don't mean by using their own crappy system, or customising their crappy system but by intergrating it into my website through my own secure connection.

Do I have to use the API?

I have used the paypal API in many projects. There is a lot of documentation of how to do this and sample code. There is also a developers forum at www.paypaldev.com.

You will need to have some experience with programming to implement this the way that you want.

To start off, I would first look into the SDK that paypal offers developers and sample code.

Give a shout if you need some help.

Alright no worries.

I've just already coded my forms etc which send the email to me with the information and I sign them up manually. However I'd like to automate this process.

Also, does PayPal keep track of the buttons/subrcsriptions you create?

It's GUI is pretty crap and not user friendly at all.

Not at all, just sign up for 2Checkout and PayPal and purchase a billing control panel software such as WHMAP. You'll be set with that :)

Okay, I'm confused, why do I need 3 systems to process my payment?

2Checkout is the shopping basket?

I'm going to create the forms etc myself, I just need to then have it processed and someone to do the credit card / payment bit.

But I think I need WHMAP to do my registration of internet domains to make it automated.

Well 2checkout if i am right handles credit cards, paypal does handle credit cards but subscriptions (automatic payment) are not via cc in paypal, and you migh need business account with paypal first to accept cc payments.

Which one is the 3rd system? WHMAP which i am not sure what it is.

Ah okay, beginning to understand now.

I was looking at my PayPal and for some reason I couldn't find the credit card section.

However, I believe I can use AWBs for all the solutions above?

I went through the demo and it is very straight forward, unlike Modern Bill etc.

So I've upgraded my account to Business already, there is no way to have a subscribed service with credit cards? Only PayPal's own service?

What's your e-commerce system going to be used for? Selling a widget? Downloadable software? Hosting plan? There are many off the shelf products out there that can suit your needs and don't require you to do any custom coding.

If you're selling widgets online, the cheapest (i.e. FREE) way to go is with Oscommerce. 2Checkout integrates with the software and you can theorhetically be up and running in a few hours (depending of course if you want to modify the look/feel of the Oscommerce templates).

Not sure what you're trying to sell though so making quality suggestions is a bit difficult ;)

Okay I'm selling web hosting / domain registration on Windows 2003 platform.

I'm using PayPal as my processor.

So I guess I can use AWBs. It's the best system I've seen so far. Also has an owned license. :)

How do I go about using AWBs for Helm? Do I need to purchase 3rd party plugins? I've got an eNom account as well.

Hmmm, AWB may have a component built in for integrating with HELM. I know ModernBill allows for the easy integration into both HELM (as well as allows you to incorporate 2checkout and paypal as payment options)

It says on the AWBs website that it can create/delete/suspend etc Helm accounts.

However, it "can", does this mean software / modules / plugins are there for me to use already? Or do I have to purchase more etc?

It would be best to ask AWBS support that question, but i think can means it will be able to create those accounts.

But remember lots of files to edit for intergarting AWBS into your system.

Like what kind of files would I be looking at?

At this stage I still think it's better to code it myself but for the invoice sections/billing etc it'd be far more convenient to purchase it.

I'd ask AWBs but I know what they'll all say. Yes we can blah blah blah...

I'd rather get it from humans with personal experience not some web monkies after a few bucks.

Okay this is annoying me.

I'm using PayPal so I can't do subscriptions with credit cards, so how do I setup recuring billing?

I thought I can accept credit cards with PayPal?

Use another processor?

Yes, try 2checkout (http://www.2checkout.com/recoverview.htm), which allows recurring payments without an account.

You can accept subscription payments through PayPal, and your customers can use credit cards for those payments, but they must sign up for an account with PayPal.

You can find more information on how to set up PayPal Subscriptions on PayPal's Integration Center.

Found out the service I wanted was for US customers only.

It's the same system Namecheap use.
