View Full Version : Why did you get into webhosting?

I am starting a small websolution company, one of the services will be web hosting.

What made me go this route is my love for technology and computers. And, this is something that I think is possible to make a decent living off.
(CIW Certified Enterprise Specialist, Designer, Web Site Manager and Administrator... :) Not certified yet, attended all tracks, missing exams... :( )

Also, my interests in management, marketing and company strategy made me want to go the entrepeneur route and start my own business.
(Studied Business Administration and Marketing in College)

For me, the only thing I would rather do is drive racing cars for a living  (too old now...28. Maybe for fun someday...).

What did it for you?

Age never stopped Paul Newman from racing. :)

So, alchiba, you want one less competitor...:D

Paul Newman made his money elsewhere, he just spent it racing...:)

28 is really too old to start racing professionally here in europe...:(

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement!!! :)

I got into web hosting because I know that i've always wanted to run an Internet business and it had to deal with hosting and web design. It's always been a passion for me, and now it's happening :)

Web hosting, is an awesome industry. I believe that if you create a good "base" for your company, and have enough clients, you can run the company and make tons of money with very little effort. Of course this does take time, but the time put into it is well worth it.

Similar I guess....
I don't think the making lots of money thing is entirely true... it would be nice, but there is a lot of very strong competition out there with the financial backing

Because hacking shells didn't last too long...

Because my pr0n sites kept getting deleted by Geocities...

Because I was sick and tired of Aitcom and threatened that if they didn't keep my site up I'll go start my own company and kill them with my co0o0o0o0ol prices!

I love the challenge, and technology and making things work. Seeing how everything works together, dns, ip, emai, http- there is nothing I would rather do :)

Don't need much capital, love technology. I know linux so why not use it? If done right could be profitable.

Starting with geocities, then progressing though seven different hosts. You can only take so much before you start believeing there has to be a better way, then you see the light.

Whoa LA, the flick of a switch and the packets flow in the right direction for once, the right direction being a CAT5 cable from your own server.

PS: Plus its cool to brag about your hosting company at LAN parties.

These are all very admirable.

I did it for the fast cars, big houses, and beautiful women.
