Hostlead 06-05-2002, 06:21 PM I am interested :)
does the mercury project server have the same features as the other tranXactglobal servers?
is bandwidth multihomed?
what does the mercury project server have what the other servers u offer don't have?
thx
Host Lead
Hi JH,
I have question:
- I have server at tranxact/DV2 and it is with 300 GB BW, since you've started Mercury then will you upgrade current servers with additional 200 GB for free?
Thanks, Miha
panopticon 06-05-2002, 06:39 PM How does the bandwidth quality and number of providers compare with Rackshack's bandwidth? I notice that RackShack seems to be using more Cogent bandwidth than before, but they still have their Verio and Time Warner links which are pretty nice. What are the bandwidth providers for the Project Mercury servers?

I think they will be the same with other servers, Aleron, Cogent, Above.net etc... damn nice offer :)
ckpeter 06-05-2002, 07:24 PM What about IP? free? How many IP is included initially?
Does the motherboard supports more RAM, HD?
Also, some more details please on the upgrade path that was mentioned in another thread about upgrading to XP1700?
Thanks,
Peter
panopticon 06-05-2002, 07:41 PM I thought that someone said they no longer used Aleron ???
sailor 06-05-2002, 08:03 PM all servers starting this month will have 500 gigs - this is program that we will include our current server customers in. Bandwidth is the same providers as usual. We will get them in as fast as possible. We have about 45 that are in process right now - but 25 of those are sold - that means about 25. I am hoping to get the inventory counter online tonight so you guys will know where we stand. Thanks - we will be adding more weekly.
chuckt101 06-05-2002, 09:19 PM Wohoo I get 200 gig extra bandwidth free :D
FYI I've had a dedicated server with these guys since January, and other than a slight issue the other night, these guys have been top notch.
I just wish they had these hardware specs when i signed up :(
panopticon 06-05-2002, 09:29 PM Bandwidth is the same providers as usual.
So we know you have Cogent. Who else? I know you used to use aleron which was nice and fast but then I thought I read you dropped them. Do you use Above.net as CoreFighter said?
Wolfy 06-05-2002, 09:35 PM How about hardware upgrade options and costs, are they the same as on your 'dedicated server' www page?
How much to upgrade to a 'decent' AMD CPU?
What about dual P3's, is that possible?
Edit:
And on the software side:
What kind of RH install do you do, default - or - will it be a hosting setup: latest kernel, additional packages installed (like perl, mysql, php and apache)?
Earlier in the year you mentioned you wanted to become 'RH experts' and would provide periodic free kernel upgrades and the like - is this still the case?

not sure if they dropped aleron, but i'm sure they've a link with a ISP across the buliding from them and they have above.net

0wned 06-05-2002, 11:24 PM Since you offer free unlimited Ensim licenses with your other machines... does this also apply to the Project Mercury boxes?
zdwebhosting 06-06-2002, 01:15 AM nice offer sailor.

I believe it's inculded, since they've got global licence of ensim, don't quote me if I'm wrong thought. ;)

so which one makes most of your traffic (incoming/outgoing?!)
do you have any graphs (i.e. MRTG) like Rackshack?
uh ... and very nice offer btw.!
greets,
Nadav 06-06-2002, 06:22 PM Wow. Looks like a great offer. Kernel upgrades, unlimited ensim
panopticon 06-06-2002, 10:23 PM We still have Aleron, and we added AboveNet/MFN..
Excellent. Sorry - I don't know where I heard they dropped aleron.
I have noticed that Rackshack seems to be pushing more bandwidth out their cogent Gig-E than before and it is noticably a little slower than before, though it's still pretty fast. I would guess that with this amount of bandwidth Tranx is probably doing the same, but it would definitely sweeten the offer to find out more details about exactly which bandwidth you would be getting (percentage wise - how much faster and how much cogent)
0wned 06-07-2002, 08:06 AM I sent an email asking when this offer was available to new customers and was told 'now!', but when I visit eservers.biz the order links don't work. The site in sailor's signature doesn't even mention this offer. Where do we go to signup?
Is it also true you are still not using Ensim 3.1?
Wolfy 06-07-2002, 09:31 AM sailor, cabalstudios ...
The sooner you can provide 'hardware upgrade info/costs' the sooner we can sign up. ;)
From before:

What about dual P3's, is that possible?

I talked to them about that a couple of nights ago. They said it will only be available on new servers because there is no way to upgrade from the older version.
