Not true. There are many laptops where the G. card is not built into the mother board. It is especially the case for high-end laptops, or the ones targeted specifically for multimedia and gaming fans. But probably less than 5% of all laptops sold.

Your statement is most, I've played games on an SLI laptop already, some laptops are really made for gaming.


Anyways, to answer the question, it depends on if you have a dedicated or shared video card. Like the others have mentioned, can you provide us with the model number of your laptop?

Its very unlikely, almost impossible being that you are considering an upgrade, that your laptop has a graphics card that isn't built into the motherboard. It doesn't matter if the memory is dedicated or shared if the card is fused into the mobo.

considering laptop mfg's are releasing laptops that way 15lbs+ and have 19" lcd's with sli video cards, I would definitely say laptops can be used for high end gaming. :-)
