I am currently with one host and overall I have not had a problem-except CGI. Are there differences in how web hosts set up CGI that would make CGI easier on one server than another? I am considering switching services(and I switched to this one fairly recently-what a pain) because of this.

For the record, I know how to upload CGI scripts and all that rot. I have access to other servers with CGI and using use scripts on them just fine.

I hope this is the right place for this question. The technical forum seemed to be for those who actually run servers.

Hi Virginia,
Are you sure you have a cgi-bin?
I would think by now most paid hosts would provide you with a cgi-bin, but Im not positive that they all do!
Maybe your scripts just need to have the permissions set?
This is probably best handled by their support?
Sorry..not much help.

Some host might set up a special path for accessing your CGI-BIN. Unusual but it does happen. The host may also have a central or global CGI-BIN for scripts that are shared throughout the server (like cgiemail).

Have you contacted you tech support about the problem?
