I think their service is still good but i dont know if i want to host with a company ran out of a garage and a very dirty one. :(

And you assume the company is run out of this garage (which has no computer equipment in it that I can see) because...?

I decided to email them about this problem instead of announcing it to the world.

does it matter if Sean (owner of P7) is 19/20-something or 30-something? It's the business plan behind the company and the service that matters...

I don't think age matters, as long as they are doing a great job.

But I do think they need to put an index.html page there too. That is sort of unprofessional to have that open like that.

Than again, you should probally have just emailed them and told them that in the first place, instead of embarassing them a little here.

For what it's worth, I kinda' like his new menu (http://www.pixelseven.com/matt/newmenu.html).

Yes, I agree, that directory (http://www.pixelseven.com/matt/) needs an INDEX.HTML file.

Hi Everyone,

I'll just post a few comments, in response to the ones already made..

1) We do not run the business out of a garage.... That would be a poor practice, seeing how its not "suitable".. Like the post said above, there is no Computer Equipment, so I kinda am stumped as to how you made that assumption. I would understand if the filename was called "office" or something...

2) There is nothing against employees having personal web sites or files out of sight is there? We keep our sites away from our client sites, on a different server, so that no record of us is found on our reseller servers.

That directory was holding some examples, etc so that they could be downloaded. Of course, maybe there should be an index file, but that isn't Matt's personal homepage.. I don't need to explain this further;)

Thanks for everyone's comments, postings, etc. I don't suppose you actually want to see where I work from....:stickout just kidding...

Hope this clears things up.
Sean

I just opened a resseller account with P7 and I have been treated with the outmost professionalism and courtesy by Sean and his team. whatever their age is, they seem to have been in this business for a decent amount of time and that is what counts.

I do know how old Sean is, however I am not going to disclose this on a public forum as it isn't my position to do so. Myself and a few others from hosting and design companies, Sean included have been working on project for around the past month / two months. Sean has not only shown professionalism throughout but has even sponsored the projects funding. I have had no personal experience with P7's services however I have had several conversations with Sean and I can say he is very good and professional at what he does. I don't really see what this "age" thing has to do with the way a company is operated. As long as it has a strong business plan and a strong management team it will do just fine, Sean appears to have both of these! :)

Are you serious!?!? and I planned on joining P7! Now I have no other choice but to go somewhere where it is run by retired business men isntead of "crazy kids" :D

Sean is young, yes. I envy him for this. I wish I was his age and getting into the web hosting business. There are several other successful hosts around these parts who are "young" too. I say - good on them for doing something positive with their lives. I hope by the time they're 30 [if they're not burned out] that they'll be very successful and happy. :)

I was 17 when I finished my carpentry apprenticeship. The boss reckoned I should go out on my own and sub-contract. So that's what I did. Because of my age, I had to prove myself as capable of doing the job. I can still remember the shocked looks on the owner's faces when they came by the building site to see me building their house. They would ask me, "Where is your Boss?". I would say, "I am the boss".

I even had folks much older than me, working for me. Folks always used to think that they were the boss and I was the employee. :D

i cant believe someone would be as shallow as too judge a company based on the owners age . Just because you're young doesnt mean you cant offer a service or run a company properly , i find myself getting sterotyped for my age (23) , and i think its a shame . Anyways , the site looks good , people seem to like there services , good for the people involved with pixel7

I like their site... don't care much about their age. At least they aren't just another me-too.

Very nice little design although I think the animation might be best left only on the main page; its a bit distracting when trying to read through the detail. Or reduce the graphic down to the water coolers or something.

Nice to see something different, done with feeling.

Of course people do this. Sorry, but I'd be thinking twice before handing over $100 to someone who runs a hosting company yet who is only 12 years old. The numbers don't matter, change the $$$ amount and the age up or down. Point is that age is a factor, like it or not.

We've had this discussion before (at least a few times). I don't think we need to run through it again...
