View Full Version : LinkPoint Gateway & Recurring Payments

In my search for any possible way to charge customers on a monthly basis, but be able to change how much they're charged depending on their service usage, I was reading the LinkPoint gateway documentation.

I noticed that they have a full API for recurring billing (which Authorizenet, what I currenly use, does not have). There is a "MODIFY" command that can be sent to modify existing recurring payments. However, on the same page the documentation showed that the credit card info was required, and had no field for any type of reference to an existing recurring payment.

Does anyone actually use this feature? Can I change the amount of a recurring payment through the API (which was also initially begun through the API) when my customers upgrade/downgrade their service? Storing credit card numbers on my own server is not something I am willing to do.

I would also appreciate any recommended processors that offer LinkPoint.

Hi Dan,

Thanks so much for posting this. I am in an extremely similar situation: I use authorize.net but am unsatisifed with their inability to allow customer intervention of ARB (automatic recurring billing). For this reason alone I am ready to switch.

I read Linkpoint's documentation (which you mentioned) and noticed, like you said, that they required cc info. This is a bummer as it seems that if you wanted a customer to be able to modify a recurring transaction, they would have to enter in their cc info, which doesn't make sense (to the customer, anyway).

I emailed the Linkpoint support staff. When I hear back, I'll post on this forum.

If you find anything else out, I would love to know...

I think a lot of us are in the same boat, keep me posted as well as I have looking for a way to change what my clients are billed when they upgrade/downgrade without having to create a whole new subscription.
