sgarbus 07-27-2006, 01:22 PM Well, there's many threads currently on this subject. I've used ModernBill, although definitely still prefer ClientExec. It's much simpler, has features that are needed, and doesn't take you 20 menu clicks to reach your destination. ClientExec is always pumping out new updates for their software, and they've got very good support (even if you don't pay for it). I've had all my questions answered promptly on their member forums.
The url is in my profile/signature.
Evolver 07-27-2006, 01:30 PM I use it and like its simplicity. ATM I only offer hosting and domains so don't need a complex billing system. I've used ModernBill and its was nice but way to complex for my liking. I've also use OptiGold and that made learning MB look like a walk in the park.
I'll pm you my sites url.
stayalive 07-27-2006, 01:39 PM After using client exec for 2 days now i feel that i should switch to AWBS cause their ordering interface with the client is good, they can actually update their cart and the prices show up on the top instead of at very bottom as in clientexec, it might be simple but it doesnt look too professionaly when at ordering page.
AWBS comes with 1 year support and upgrades and has more options then CE at this moment.
Have used MB but its like rocket science.
Patrick 07-27-2006, 06:00 PM We use ClientExec and it's very user friendly from a client AND systems administrator standpoint.
While it does lack some features, the developers are on top of things over at ClientExec and will have them released in future versions. The software is very stable, easy to setup and maintain... plus modifying the templates takes little to no time to master.
i have used clientexec for few months and i have to say i am satisfied with its simplicity.I am planning to switch to WHMCS as i need more features and greater customization.

I'm at a loss as to why people seem to think WHMCS has more feautres than ce??
- anti fraud
- multi currency
- server round robin control
- server CP integration
blah blah .. .. all missing from whmcs
Can you say why you think whmcs has more features? I'm curious :-)

WHMCS 2.5 is going to have anti fraud and more good features.
It has better order form than Clientexec(addon order) and it also has server CP integration(automation)
It has Stardevelop Livehelp integrated,Flash presentation ...
As i know only ModernBill have "real" multi currencies.
Maybe i am lack of knowledge to customize clientexec but i am sure WHMCS is easier to customize and translate to other language.Have you ever try to translate clientexec to another language?
at the moment modernbill doesnt do multi currency - although v5 will.
We use ce for multi currency all the time.
Does WHMCS do more than just cpanel cp integration??
I think you are right about the translation though - I have heard it can be tricky to get it *all* done, although I have seen people do it successfully. The look of CE is very easy to change though.
The upcoming version of CE does addons , which we are looking forward to :-)
are you sure CE support multi currencies? As i know you can only use one currency at a time, amount can not be converted from one to others at signup page(that is real multicurrencies)
With WHM you can create account, terminate, suspend. It can be done through cron job for late payment account(I do not think CE have those).
Currently i am using CE as i need to test WHMCS for bugs and need to examine its all functions before i fully implement it.
I still wait for new version of WHMCS and CE too as they support Directi and some gateways that i need. Both WHMCS and CE have good support.
ah - you mean realtime currency conversion? I dont even think v5 moderbill will do that. In CE simply create a new package with the converted amount and tack on ¤cy=USD at the end - take a look at licenshut.com - you can order in two different currencies with the same install
CE can create and terminate accounts in the CP. CE also has enom and directi.
I'm not trying to annoy anyone here - i am genuinely interested in why users have been switching, as when we tested it - it was lacking in far more areas ;-)
i think i and you discuss to deeply to this.by the way i am checking on WHMCS only and the first thing i like it is its order form and its Alertpay gateway.it lacks of some features but it is easier to integrate to my homepage.I am waiting on CE and WHMCS new versions and will use both(i am not switching to WHMCS).Hope both will catch up Modernbill and keep their simplicity
ekate 07-30-2006, 04:08 PM Ok..since it's a clientexec thread..i would like to ask how distributors..offer leased licenses..do they purchase an owned license and distribute it as leased

If you want to just offer a ClientExec license to YOUR clients then you need to purchase a reseller account. They have plans that start at $20/mo for 2 leased licenses.
