I have another account here, but wish to remain anonymous, except to serious potential buyers. (Much better than having a "friend" post it).

After 4 years in the web business, and 2 years concentrating on hosting, I am considering selling my entire business, with 50+ small, happy clients, and moving on to software development.

I am not sure WHERE to post this message, could someone please tell me which forum(s) to post in.

Thanks!

I have invested 2 long, fun years into my web hosting company. I currently host just over 50 sites, with happy clients, and have provided them with reliable, first class service.

Another host has contacted me, and is interested in buying my company. At first I said no, because I love this business, it runs well, with minimal input from me, and is quite stable. After reconsidering, I have decided to see what price I could fetch, and then invest more time into original software development.

I am not in dire straights, nor is the company "broken", so please, no lowball-to-see-if-ill-give-it-away-offers. Please reply only if you currently practice good customer relations, and plan to treat my clients well. Some have been with me for over 2 years, and I want them to end up with a good host.

Would make good small "turnkey" operation, if you are interested in becoming a web host. Sale may include extensive support from me if you require it, and personal contact to every client, so that none are shocked about transfer. I may also be willing to manage ongoing promotion efforts, mainly through PPC's.

Business grosses over $20,000US per year, with VERY low costs, only server rental, domain name, telephone, and promotion. Most of my gross, pays for me to go camping every weekend, and work via cell phone. Could easily be expanded, but this was the client/work/cash balance that I had selected.

I ended up with 3 different business fields, seems like a good idea to pass along the most stable one, web hosting, and develop the other two.

Questions, comments?

You might want to post your business URL, so users can take a look at your site. Anyway good luck.. :)

In the interest of my clients, potential buyers, and certainly myself, I will not post URL here. I will provide URL only to serious potential buyers, especially those that are long term users of WHT. I am looking for a smooth transition for my clients, with no "alarm bells".

I should also add that business has about $9,000US per year in design services, and $4,000 per year in search engine promotion business, in addition to $10,000 per year in hosting. Preference will be given to communications regarding purchase of entire company.

Not sure how you expect to get serious potentional buyers since 1. you yourself are posting under a new account (giving you no credibility) 2. you are not even providing any proof of your claims (obviously awkward situation). I am not a long standing WHT member, just found the place myself. If you could either PM or email me with more details of your operation (staffing, tech support, required knowledge, time investment etc.) I would appreciate it. If not good luck.

Ummm... This may be a dumb question but if your business grosses 20k a year and you only have 20 customers that means your charging 400.00 per year for hosting? Also why would you not post your URL? I mean obviously we would need to see what packages you are selling and see if we would be able to work out the same deal.. Its kinda like me coming here and saying "I am selling a car it gets 40mpg and has 4 doors" and not giving any more information..

This is in the best interest of all. Would you REALLY want to buy a company, that has been posted live for sale, so that anyone reading this forum, can notify my clients that business MAY be for sale, and thus possibly weaken their trust, and maybe even solicit their business? At the VERY least, make them not very receptive to ANY new buyer...

I will only sell this business, if my clients can expect a smooth transfer, and good support once they get there.

As I have already stated, my URL is available to serious potential buyers, of which several have already contacted me.

with 50+ small, happy clients
in addition to $10,000 per year in hosting
$10,000 / 50 customers = $200/year per customer, which is just over $15 a month.

Most companies do this for many reasons, some of which the seller has already stated. If you're a serious buyer, contact him and I'm sure he'll release the information (you might even have to sign an NDA). It's not like buying a car with four doors -- this is a real business with real customers and a real reputation.

Sorry for delay, lots of PM's to answer, I am quite surprised. Will answer all by tomorrow AM. I am attempting to provide personal answers to each PM, not just a generic one. Each person contacting me, has asked different questions, I am trying to answer all. I will also say, that I have an offer on the table, at my asking price, pending their financing.
