View Full Version : Meaning of "3"

Hi all

Is there a practice in choosing domain name to equate "3" with "free" (eg "3service.com" = "freeservice.com"); if so, how prevalent is this? Do people generally accept such notion, rather like "4" equating "for"?

Any pointers would be most welcome.

Thanks!

My opinion:
3 is considered by many to be a lucky number.
Free ususally means SPAM. In fact the word 'free' in a email often sends it into the black hole of the internet by people filtering their emails. :D
So while 3 doesn't equal free, I'd certainly consider using 3 if it looked or sounded good.

I've seen this before and to me, it is a reeeeeeally big stretch to say "3service.com" = "freeservice.com" in the same way people equate "4" = "for".

Even if people tell you it is the same thing, I'd say it might be in smaller circles, as opposed to the general population thinging 3=free which is what I think you're asking.

3 = free if you are missing your two front teeth. :D

Hi Chicken & ATST

Thanks for your feedback, which is very useful.

Guess some people try very hard to sell others domain names beginning with "3" ... :)

3.

Heres my opinion.

3 at the start of a domain is no longer such a great idea I thiunk because of the amount of sites starting with 3d, however I would think that using it somewhere else in the word is ok.

4, on the other hand is not limited like this and is still worthy.

Trying not to side-track too much but if I remember correctly the number 3 represents a part of the male reproductive system. I read it in a book by Sigmund Freud.
