I need a website created from the ground up with a customized database. I want to get the project started as soon as I can. Wheres the best place to look for a web developer? I've searched around and got people offering their services from $499 to $7500. Any personal recommendations from experience? Any Nextag-like sites that rate freelancers/web desgin companies?

I appreciate your help.

If you post some more details and your budget in the Offers and Requests forums you might find someone.

Much like Brendandonhu states - with a bit more information and budget - you might get lucky and grab a designer from this forum. There are many talented designers that are quite active on WHT but occasionaly hide behind their screen names. Post and you might reel one in.

Yeah, better to place your requirement in respective section on this board.

If you are looking for a freelancer-- try guru.com. Make sure you have examples of their work to use as reference.

Try posting a request here at WHT. If you are going to use on of the freelance sites be very clear on what is required(features, code, files, scope of work, etc). Be very detailed. I have ran into a few problems in the project description due to communication errors(english to other languages and jargon).

Rentacoder and guru are alright. I have had very bad luck with scriptlance. If you are interested in a specific developer you can also ask for reviews.
