You Guys ever done any data mining using Mysql as the Dbase?

or I guess I could convert it to a flat file like excel to do the mining.

any Favorites program wise for data mining?


I am looking to do trend predictions as well as finding out a better way to match up products using cross selling.

Personally I'd use Excel and link the data via the mySQL ODBC drivers.

There isn't really a much more powerful tool than Excel for analysing generic data.

If you can get an evaluation copy, check out webhouse. It is used a lot with Great Plains for data mining and can link in through an ODBC connection.

I would recommend this, its not free but really easy to convert excel into mysql and publishes the data or mysql to access/excel etc
