use ad-aware se pro instead, it automatically does everything..... u got alot of crap on there btw...

I'm using Adware SE Personal Free Edition to scan and remove spyware on my computer. But some of them can never be removed. Today the Adware SE Personal even tells me some infected programs can not be removed because it is in use. It tells me to reboot my computer and try to remove it again.

I have tried several times, all those bad programs are still there.

Is the Adware Pro free? If not, how much is it?

I'm using Mozilla Firefox as my default web browser and I thought it is secure and fast. I guess I was wrong, my computer is really slow. My registry got 94 suspicious objects after scanned by Adware Personal today. Many of the objects can not be removed.

Go there. That forum is simply full of people with a lot of experience in this field. Post the log ( follow the rules on this ). Plus - even if no help comes, you are sure to be able to do some search for suspicious little file names from that list into their search option and see if any of the past threads have any info on what has been removed.

Save KillBox (http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe) to your Desktop

Save XCP Uninstaller (http://cp.sonybmg.com/xcp/downloads/XCP2_Uninstaller.exe) to your Desktop

Go to Start>>Control Panel>>Add or Remove Programs

You're running a slightly outdated version of Java, so you may want to uninstall that and download the newest version as well.

Run XCP Uninstaller and follow the onscreen prompts.

Go to Start>>Run. Type cmd and click OK.
Type sc delete MsWinCup and press Enter
Exit the command prompt

Run HijackThis and click Do a system scan only

Bear- there is a bug in HijackThis that causes entries like O9s and O23s to show as (file missing) even if the file is not really missing.

If you have 2 firewalls installed (Sygate and Zonealarm), that's not needed so you can uninstall one of them.

Save The Avenger (http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/avenger.exe) to your Desktop

Copy the contents of the following box to your clipboard:

Also something serious happened today. I couldn't go to any website using IE or FireFox browser while my wife was downloading some Chinese movies using BitComet. That means I have internet access but the browser couldn't connect to it, correct? Then I rebooted my pc and found out the internet connection was completely gone, the local area network was saying there is no internet connectivity or connectivity is limited. However several other computers in the network have internet access while my pc didn't.

I had to reset the router and my cablebox in order to bring the internet connection back for my pc.

I also scanned my pc using Adware SE Personal Edition and it found 110 objects in Registry that includes 9 hijack attempts and many other bad stuff.

It seems this thing is never gonna go away.

The internet problems may be due to having 2 firewalls running, but it sounds like you've got it back up and working already.

Restart your computer in Safe Mode (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm)

Go to Start>>Control Panel>>Add or Remove Programs.
Uninstall Altnet and RXToolbar if they're listed

Do you have an Internet connection now?

If yes, you may start FireFox in Safe Mode as well ( go to Start->Programs->Mozilla FireFox->Mozilla FireFox (Safe Mode) ).

I would suggest you also to get rid of AVG and install something else (such as Avast Home Edition Free or McAfee VirusScan Trial for example, together with Ewido and/or a²), update it and run the scan from the Windows Safe Mode. I hope that you saw my previous post in this thread. :)

Just to mention, I have both SPF Pro and XP firewall running simultaneously without any problem, so I don't think running two firewalls is causing the problem in the Discussman's case.

Why should he get rid of a perfectly good AV program like AVG? His browser was likely hijacked, nothing to do with a virus...

I agree, AVG is perfectly good, and running two firewalls is just an odd thing to do - there's no need for more than one and they can conflict with eachother.

I found Vision Communicate and WeatherBug Companion - Powered by Mysearch

I tried to delete them but I couldn't. I got the error message as follow:

I tried to find the Altnet and RXToolbar under program files. They are not there.

Why should he get rid of a perfectly good AV program like AVG?
Because I have had a very bad experience with AVG anti-virus. It is not that good at all.

His browser was likely hijacked, nothing to do with a virus...
IMO, CWShredder (http://www.trendmicro.com/cwshredder) is exactly what is needed for this case. Or HijackFree (http://www.hijackfree.com/en).

Your bad experience with AVG has nothing to do with the thread starter. Furthermore, there is no sign of CoolWebSearch in this log at all and CWShredder is not going to do anything at all on this person's computer so I'm not sure why you would advise them to run it. HijackFree isn't going to fix any of the problems that showed up in the log either. As far as running two firewalls, there's plenty of sites that explain it if you spend a minute on Google. Running ZoneAlarm and Sygate is entirely different from running Sygate and XP Firewall as well.

That's strange, I don't see what would stop you from removing it.
Are you familiar with editing the registry? If you are, you can remove it manually.
You would go to Start>>Run>>regedit
Then you would search for any keys containing {6671A431-5C3D-463d-A7CF-5587F9B7E191} and delete them

And also delete any keys that reference mmsass~1.dll

You could also try an automated scanner like Ewido to see if it removes it: http://ewido.net

Other than that one entry, your log looks clean. Are you still having problems with spyware?

I have had a similar problem recently. If you should clean the registry, you better do it in Safe Mode. Then use a cleaning pogram (still in Safe Mode), such as CleanUp! (http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/], it's a freeware.
Reboot in Normal Mode, then run CleanUp! once again. At the end of the cleaning process, the program will ask you to reboot. Say Yes.
Then run HijackThis, and post the output.

I think the CleanUp program isn't working for me. It seems the CleanUp windows kept refreshing itself and it takes so long to delete so many files. It just doesn't look right, so I stop the cleanup.

I ran the program in normal mode again and the program was deleting more than 10000+ files and it was still deleting it , non stop. I doubt I have that many junk files on my system, so I stop the program.

It seems like the program got into a loop and couldn't free itself from the loop.

anyway, I scanned my pc with HiJackThis again n the vision program is still there.

My pc seems much faster even we couldn't delete that file. I'm not familiar with the registry, so I better not play with it.
