Hey, I have a quick question. I'm trying to decide whether to get plesk or cpanel. When someone mentioned that plesk has a game server feature, I became interested.
So my question is:
Does the Game-Server Module come with any version of plesk?
Thanks!!!

My advice would be to not run gameservers on Plesk. The frequency on the kernel required for Plesk, doesn't support any quality game server to run. The max you'll push is 85FPS on a game server, no matter what you'd like the FPS to be. If you're looking to run game servers, don't use a control panel, or use one specifically meant for game servers.
Steve, could you please explain your theory about FPS? I tought FPS meant Frames per Second, which was a way to mesure the frames generation speed on any given 3d card. What does it have to do with servers?

servers have FPS too, but its not graphic FPS. A frame would be a state in the server, so 85 FPS would mean the server gamestate (players moving location, shots fired, etc) changes 85 times a second. as you get more players, the FPS goes down, because the server has to handle X more events in one frame.

When I ran game servers, I had to change the frequency on the kernel to 1000, with Plesk that number is much lower, around 100 I believe. You can't change that number when running Plesk.
Devin-VST is also correct about his statement.
Thanks a lot guys, now I understand. I've never used control panels myself (except homemade panels), so I wasnt aware of these issues.
