Hello,

I am thinking of opening a web hosting business. I am ready to put some money in and also take the risks, so yes, I am capable of loosing money. First month I will definitely loose much money as I do not have so much clients :) I would like to outsource as much as I can. I have done some research here but think you'll have more opinions on that:

A. Billing & control panels

1. hsphere. It's a billing & control panel solution. It's rather cheap for starting (around 100$ fix + 4.5$ for each account)

2. HSPcomplete. It's also a billing & control panel solution. It seems to cost around 1.000 $ to start with.

3. Modernbill & some control panel. There's no way to automaticely buy domains online after the program notices automaticely that credit card's okay, as far as I noticed ... This solutions seems to be a little bit more complicated than the first two solutions. Very cheap solution.

B. Server & Server Management

I think of getting a Dual Core server 4GB with RAID 1, 2h replacement SLA for around 250 $ / month. Hope that's a good computer to start in web hosting business. Server Management will also cost around 100 $ / month.

C. Outsourcing

That's the big problem, I did not found solutions for outsourcing hsphere & HSPcomplete clients. It would be great if someone could give me some figures for arount 100 clients. It'll be around 150 $ for PLESK outsourcing (Acunett, Touchsupport), but I do not know if these companies do know HSPcomplete ...

D. Costs (summary)

I think I will go with HSPcomplete (1000$ one time fee), 350 $ monthly for server including management and the money for outsourcing clients. Does that seem reasonable for you?

I'm biased of ourse, but the alure of H-Sphere is the complete integration with the entire process of running a hosting business, your client wont have to know multiple logins for billing, cp, helpdesk, it's all in one ... makes everybody's life easier

Thats a fantastic server, and will work great, but you might wish to consider not putting all your eggs on one basket, start with 2 smaller servers instead and split the load.

That is an answer nobody can real give you, the amount of investment that you put forward can only be justified by your own sales and marketing plans .. some people startup wiht a 20$ reseller account and fail, others start with a 50K NetApp cluster and succeed ...

A few companies that might help on the HSphere bit
http://ladylinux.com/
http://hspheresupport.com

Both do not show any figure how much would it cost to provide end user service. Also both links do not show how much would server management cost.

Ladylinux has a very basic and old presentation. Hspheresupport.com presents themself most in latin, seems they have coded their website in no time by using a cms. Both do not look professional as I want them to manage my clients.

Do you know other companies that could work on hsphere?

Check out dynamicnet.net, I look after my own boxes so I don't use their services myself, but they may be what you are looking for.

They have not one single number of how much which service costs. It's really not easy to go with hsphere / swsoft-solution as there seem to be not so much outsourcing companies available ...

Greetings:

Phone calls to possible providers can work wonders in terms of narrowing down what packages and options work best.

Thank you.
