View Full Version : Satisfactiron Survey - H-Sphere (Ignore the other one)
rapidtransit 06-04-2002, 10:27 AM We've had a lot of threads on "which is the best control panel," but when you just ask "which is your favorite," people may be inclined to simply state the control panel they use, if they're happy with it.
But what is your satisfaction level with the panel you have? Sorry, but I can't think of a way to do this but individual polls.
So, if you use H-SPHERE, how happy are you with it, with 1 being the WORST and 5 being the BEST?
ScottD 06-04-2002, 11:53 AM Hello,
I have been completely satisified with HSphere so far, though I have only been using it since early March so my overall experience is somewhat limited.
A few of the finer points with Hsphere are:
- Clustering, single installation can manage many servers.
- Multi-platform, though we haven't used it yet it supports Windows along side FreeBSD (or Linux if that is your preference).
- Multiple database support: MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- All inclusive: Handles billing (with integration for a lot of gateways), support tickets, customer signup, mass email (to your customers), etc.
Some of the problems I have are:
- Not yet open enough to *easily* insert custom modules.
- Uses FreeMarker for the look and feel, personally I'd prefer XSLT and XML; note this is a personal preference, not to say FreeMarker is not a good system.
- Billing system doesn't handle discounting very well yet (this is being worked on!)
I would never say that I'd not use anything else in the future, to remain competitive I'll always have my eyes open to other options. But for the price, I don't see anything even on the horizon to compete. One of the nice things about PSoft (the developers of HSphere) is their open-mindedness, they don't shun Windows just because they are Linux lovers, they are more interested in doing good business and so far they have done good by me.
I gave a score of 4.
Scott
Flesk 06-05-2002, 08:51 AM Yes,
And they also take in consideration your sugestions to improve the software.
Everyday 06-05-2002, 10:43 AM H Sphere is fantastic. They offer more options than any other control panel available today. To my knowledge they are the only to support linux, windows and free bsd. Many things you would consider no brainers that the other panels don't have, H Sphere has.
Their support is unmatched. They take their users opinions and improve the software to what the customer wants, not what some engineer who doesn't even do hosting wants.
I've used cpanel, plesk and ensim. I own some ensim servers and I have to say that my personal preference is H Sphere. Our customers using ensim have requested to be moved over to the H Sphere servers because the interface is more user frinedly and has more options.
Thats just my $.02
rapidtransit 06-05-2002, 03:26 PM Rules say "participants may not bump threads uneccessarily" . I'm bumping this one to try to keep the four control panel polls reasonably together, since IMO we are gathering useful info and want people to realize I am asking about the four main control panels, not just one or two. If the mods think this is in error, I apologize.
ZeonHost 06-05-2002, 04:19 PM The PSoft support team definately provides excellent support. When adding a new server to the cluster, they are very helpful and will perform the majority of the migration (if moving a service) for you. They usually will reply to an e-mail in under and hour with a resolution.
rapidtransit 06-05-2002, 09:02 PM ...to keep it with the other Satisfaction Polls. :)
I never realized that vBulletin doesn't automatically bump up poll postings if people vote on the poll, but don't post a message at the same time.

It is an option within vbulletin. They must have it set to "no".
From the settings in vbulletin: (with yes/no option)
Update last post time

I voted 3 by the way. I think hsphere has a load of features, but the way they present those features to the admin, and the end user, is rather sad.
I would have to say it needs ALOT of work to make it more user friendly.

I would have to say it needs ALOT of work to make it more user friendly. They just released v2.1 and I think it addressed some UI issues. But I haven't seen it and just don't know...

2.1 doesn't come close to making hsphere user friendly ;)
Until they create an easier to use template system, its going to be a weird system for the end user to use.
I still use it though because no other control panel offers its features. I just get tired of answering support tickets related directly to hsphere
rapidtransit 06-14-2002, 11:58 PM *bump* so folks can see the results of the four polls together. I found them interesting.:)
Axel Teflon 06-15-2002, 07:48 AM I don't think its as popular as Cpanel or Plesk, but thats mu opinion.
I voted 3, because I find it alright. I've only used it a few times, and its very user friendly, especialy the MySQL section which is really easy to work with.
Overal I like it but it just isn't really the type of style of a control panel that suits me.
I also don't like its webmail.
Everyday 06-15-2002, 08:50 AM They've changed the webmail to IMP and we use it with an IMAP server. Its very nice now, we even hooked up the database link so that you can use the address book.
MKelso 06-15-2002, 12:53 PM I'm going over to HSphere as its more well rounded and allows greater options at every level.....but of course no panel is perfect but i think this one is well on its way...
