Anything can be hacked easily, if you do not know what you are doing. Linux can be very secure if you know what you are doing and take the proper steps to secure the server properly.

Linux is more secure out of the box than Windows, and less secure out of the box than Sun Solaris.

However, I would always recommend doing more than "out of the box."

If you take the proper measures, any operating system can be made very secure. Keep in mind, though, that as long as you are on a network, anything can be hacked ;-)
