Aussie Bob 06-04-2002, 02:20 AM The Aussie dollar is fighting back damnit!! :(

:bawling: I get paid in US dollars. I liked it better when the Aussie $ was down around the 50 mark. :(
mwatkins 06-04-2002, 02:24 AM Tell me about it. The Canadian dollar has been on a tear lately too. Our interest rates are probably going up again as a result of stronger than US economic performance, drawing more buyers of CDN $ out, driving price up... driving converted US$ value down.
Not totally unexpected but sucks just the same.
Now the price I pay for hosting gonna go up:bawling:

I loved it too when the Aussie Dollar was around 50cents USD... was getting a lot back but now that it's getting stronger relative to US, I'm getting less money... but then I look on the bright side, I also pay less for hosting :D

wow the Aussie dollar is worse than the Canadian...I thought ours was the worst:D ;) ;)
It's a double edge sword, mate!
I'm pretty happy about it because it costs me less for servers - and also I have clients pays in AU$ anyway, so it's a big bonus for me :D
It is rather annoying, but not so bad for those of us that also have clients paying in AU dollar :) And like they said above, we pay in US, so its all good!
Aussie Bob 06-04-2002, 07:30 PM The thing is, the aussie $ will probably go up to around the 65 mark. :bawling:
Oh well, time to get another server anyways. :)
ADEhost 06-04-2002, 10:18 PM Not to burst anybody's bubble here, but to compare national currencies is risky. the AZ$ trades relitive to it's buying power, but then compare the cost of goods locally
gallon of milk in my town is US $ 3.05 which means
5.38 Australian Dollar
3.28 Euro
8.03 Brazilian Real
2.11 British Pound
4.72 Canadian Dollar
24.38 Danish Krone
6.29 New Zealand Dollar
5.50 Singapore Dollar
I think the above list covers most of the forum members and gives a base to work with. anybody care to post what they pay for 1 gallon of milk or about 3.78 litlers.
Mike
Tim Greer 06-05-2002, 01:19 AM Sorry guy's, but I'm on the opposite side of the fence and I am glad to see this. My wish, is that it (AUD) would match the USD. For 4+ years now, it went from ~85 cents to ~45 cents. This was bad news. A substantial amount of money would be lost (maybe not for you though) if it doesn't eventually go back up, and I am happy to see any gain.
This isn't anything significant. It has a long way to go to get back to where it was. http://www.xe.com btw, is always a good source.
Omair Haroon 06-05-2002, 05:00 AM 3 litres of Milk would cost us somewhere around Rs. 75.
tagalaxy.net 06-05-2002, 11:56 AM milk is approx $1 a litre in New Zealand...
so 3.78 litres would be about NZ$3.78
Generally speaking, and this is VERY general, buying power of NZ$1 is similar to AU$1, US$1 or 1 Pound.

that's half of what I pay for milk. I drink lot's of milk
what I get a good laugh at that I once thought of moving and living in New Zeeland, what stopped me was my contact on the other side whom told me that his town was huge. huge was defined as 60,000 people. Where I live I have 28,000 people and we are a little village. the next 2 towns over have 100K a peice.
still It's on my top 5 places to live for retirement ( other places are Mexico, Portuagal (sp), Brazil, Spain )
