my goal; is to have a poker site.
for now I just want to have a front page w/ my banner, two columns for text, and 4-5 spaces for ads. I would like the home page to have a link to the forum section (unlike this site where the forum is the home page).

For someone just starting out like yourself, a content management system (cms) would be a great way to get your site up and going.

Also, since you have dreamweaver, developing a front page with a banner should be pretty simple.

none yet. just have the domain regged. but i guess my vision is; a poker site.
online poker is growing very rapidly. my site will give strategic recources that will help develope poker strategy.

also room reviews, bonus sign-up codes, non-strategy articles (news, etc..).

as far as website design/editing goes I'd suggest the use of nvu as it's a gui/wysiwyg type editor. www.nvu.com

You will be able to edit all your text based in Dreamweaver, but images you will need a image program, such as Adobe Photoshop. What kind of hosting do you got? If you are using hosting with Fantastico, they have quite a few good scripts that install easy, such as word press if that is the type of site your looking for, also forums etc, you should check out a list of Fantastico scripts. Hope this helps!

Indeed. If you have a template (HTML coded) that you really like, you may want to pay someone to make it Smarty compatible / work with cmsmadesimple.org, and then you will have a "control panel like wordpress" to create, edit, and delete data from your website.

Good luck!

Any HTML template (preferrably with CSS too) could. Its not totally plug and play however.
