I've searched quite a bit in the forums here, and found some good ones.. but I'm looking for recommendations for good webmail programs that will work for a company with several hundred employees who need very reliable program.

It would be ideal to also have calendaring or groupware integration.

The only real requirement is that it must be VERY easy to use and very reliable.

They are currently using an old squirrelmail installation, but hate the look/feel, and they want integration with exchange, etc...

I'm aware of:

www.atmail.com (User testing shows very poor/complicated calendar integration)

www.scalix.com (Expensive, and requires the whole server to be used. ie: can't sit on top of cpanel, etc..)

www.roundcube.com (Very new project.)

www.squirrelmail.com (Open source - no support)

If they want integration to exchange, why not just use exchange 2003's webmail client?

It is very expensive and they are using a hosted exchange solution for only the few employees who really need it.

Icewarp makes a very nice webmail option. I have it as part of a merak mail server program but merak can be expensive (well, in relative terms.).

I THINK icewarp sells the webmail by itself though. I enabled new accounts so you're welcome to test it. I have groupware working for select accounts but not in the demo. You can also import all your contacts from outlook, check other email accounts on other servers, etc

https://mail2.e-places.net click on 'Sign-up for a new account'. When you're done with signup just log back in using yourname@e-places.net as the account name.

You may not be able to purchase it for a standalone solution but you certainly wouldn't be hurting yourself if you used the mail server too. it's top notch.

Try Scalix (http://www.scalix.com/products/scalixwebaccess.html)which is not OSS, but might do what you want.

If you just want a free webmail program, try Roundcube (http://www.roundcube.net/)which is a nice AJAXed LAMP app that people have raved about.

And ugliest.

Add a NutsMail.com theme and it becomes very pretty with a lot of new features and so fourth...

It ain't that ugly (squirrelmail). It just works and also is a very mature project.

I have to second roundcube. We recently installed it and it works great, especially with its AJAX functions :)

Try Scalix (http://www.scalix.com/products/scalixwebaccess.html)which is not OSS, but might do what you want.

Check out Kerio MailServer if you are looking for a full blown groupware type solution. It is cheaper than exchange and offers most of the same functionality plus some of its own...
