ntfu2 07-12-2006, 08:16 PM You can push to another godaddy account with no wait
tommyd 07-12-2006, 09:41 PM 30 or 60 day waiting after any account change with godaddy. Had the issue occur with me.
That's not correct tommyd. You can push to another GoDaddy account anytime.
internext 07-14-2006, 01:45 AM But after an internal GoDaddy change of ownership, you cannot transfer out of GD for 60 days. Thats why when I buy names from GD/WWD I dont have them pushed to me - I transfer out.
WGS_Thunder 07-14-2006, 06:07 AM I think the 60 day wait to transfer to another registar is a rule with all registrars. In the case of Godaddy, I've bought a name and transfered it to another Godaddy account with no wait. Same with Namecheap, have been able to push to another Namecheap user with no wait
Tyler 07-14-2006, 08:47 AM Since it seems you're just asking for advice, and not the actual sale (yet), thread moved to Domain Name Forum. :)

What you probably mean is 'pushed'.
Transfer = change of registrar. Paid service. Adds 1 year to the expiration date.
Push = change of owner within the same registrar. Usually free.

This literally comes up once a week - please don't reply if you don't know the specifics. Godaddy enforces a non-transfer out policy if whois has been updated with in the last 60 days. This is NOT an ICANN policy and most other registrars don't enforce such a policy.
All registrars DO enforce the ICANN policy that states no transfers for 60 days following a successfull registrar to registrar transfer, Godaddy's policy is in addition to this.
solidar 07-14-2006, 04:33 PM This is odd godaddy policy. If you sell names I would not use them for this problem

It's ONLY if any of the Registrant Info changes the lock goes into place. This always happens with a GoDaddy push. You can push to another GoDaddy account immediately afterwards. It just you cannot transfer away from GoDaddy for 60 days.

What I meant is what namecheap calls "push" and Godaddy calls "change account"

Only if it's a brand new registration.
Registrars that prevent transfers for 60 days in other circumstances are hoping it'll force someone to renew with them. Plain and simple scum tactics.

Can't agree more...

I recently removed privacy from a domain registered at GoDaddy which resulted in a whois change. A week later I transferred the domain away from Godaddy without incident. Actually, I was a bit concerned that the transfer would be blocked because I had heard something before about transfer delays related to removing the DomainsByProxy privacy service, but in this case everything proceeded smoothly!

It's really strange, because I had an email from GD support, telling that whoisbyproxy removal changes the registrant at the registry (I was too dumb to think that registry does NOT keep registrant's info) and triggers GD 60-days policy.
Hm...

I wonder if its because DomainsByProxy is closely asociated (or even owned?) by GoDaddy, while WhoisByProxy is just some seperate company?
DomainsByProxy is a GoDaddy company.
Stan Marsh 07-26-2006, 02:16 AM Sorry guys, I was speaking about domainsbyproxy... And *THAT* whois privacy removal actually triggered their 60-days rule.
Yes it does :( But I think you can appeal it successfully.
