View Full Version : Buying web site traffic
hare_sa 07-12-2006, 04:29 PM Hi,
Can someone explain is it any good to buy web site traffic ... targeted or untargeted? Can it make any bad for my company name? Can I get wrong if I do it?
Do I really need to buy that.
Beside of web hosting I have one advertisment portal and wanna to generate a lot of visits to my site ... so I am just not sure if it is ggod or not!?
Thank you in advance!
Web Host Rank Inf 07-12-2006, 04:42 PM Do you think about offers like 10,000 visitors for $30?
I have personally no experience with such offers but I have read a lot of negative about that. People says that most visitors leave your website immediately.
hare_sa 07-12-2006, 04:49 PM I am just asking is it worth anything. It is not matter if it 30 or 300, can it be any positive if I find somewhere to buy a quality and targeted web site traffic?
cpsitesaver.com 07-12-2006, 10:28 PM Aside from Alexa rank, I dont see any positives if those visitors will just view your site and leave as fast as they came.
SaniX11 07-12-2006, 10:33 PM If its for a business, depending on what your selling, if your website is your business portal, you want targeted traffic, or leads. If you are trying to brand, then any traffic is good traffic. Mailing lists and such is good for branding, targeted specialty sites like WHT and such is good for targeted traffic and leads..
Kyle Arnett 07-12-2006, 10:34 PM Normally, you would set up a seperate promotional web site to send those visitors to. That seperate web site is what has to be appealing enough to your targeted visitors to keep them. They click an image and are re-directed to your true site.

I am fairly knowledgeable in this area and buying untargeted pop and exit traffic can be worthless as it maybe sourced from lengthy chained or exit consoles.
If you can purchase pop or exit traffic that comprises of just a single pop or exit (non chained) then this can be productive however you should also take into account that SP2 and pop blockers are set-up on huge numbers of computers nowadays so any pop type traffic may actually be blocked.
Some traffic companies nowadays offer a solution which forces the pop through many blockers / SP2 so this at least means that your site is being viewed (and not blocked).
Often the best productive traffic is clicked delivery or even genuine 404 traffic which as a rule will not get stopped by the blockers so at least the new visitor reaches your site cleanly.
It is also worth mentioning that using traffic effectively is a skill and dumping masses of traffic to a page will not perform miracles so testing traffic is key.
I hope all the above helps.
The Stealthy One 07-14-2006, 09:07 PM hare_sa, we have tried this before, by purchasing tens of thousands of pop-ups, for hundred of dollars - to put it bluntly, it did not work. We got lots of traffic from it, but 0 signups. Take my advice and don't waste your money on it! :)
SaniX11 07-15-2006, 02:05 AM IMO The best marketing is SEO through ranking and content match / adsense marketing, the second great tool, but not as well on conversions is banner ad campaigns on niche sites. Search rankings are the perfect marketing tool because it targets direct niches, allows you to pull them in, and can be cost effective depending the niche. I am experimenting with overture with 29 keywords, and have found 4 the most productive, we have a 30% conversion rate with them when I sit at the system and bid on keywords every 20-30 minutes, if i leave it on the automatic budgeting tool, i get about 20% conversion rate, conversions on my site are actually just leads, and the CPL (cost per lead) is running about $8.00 right now, compared to about $4.00 on google, however we wont find out our sales rate compared to google until monday.
Basically heres my view on the two competitors:
Yahoo (overture) is entertainment based; and in my opinion, your conversion rate will be higher with overture becasue they cover a vast range of media on the internet, are tied into very big shopping networks, and the general users of the yahoo search engine, are business oriented people.
- Some sample proof is that in our comment field on our lead forms for overture, 75% of conversions leave detailed quesitons, comments, and additional information, as well as request help as soon as possible; while on google we have below 10% filling out the comments field, thats out of 600-800 leads a week, which we see a fairly low sales rate out of this.
While google has definitly taken the gold in the searching, they are not very "shopping" oriented. Many people use google just for browsing, quick answers, and to find content fast. While we may get many leads, many can be fraudelent, just browsers, or accidental.
Overall, i expect a 15% sales rate increase by switching to overture...
hare_sa, This is the type of information that can make or break a business, if you dont understand that targeting your users, your niche, etc.. is vital to your business and its branding, then your company will be left floating downstream. Try out different venues on the internet, or even locally in newspapers. Dont find your business, help your business find you. I tend to see more sales when the client feels that they have accomplished their own goal of "THEM finding" the perfect product, rather then being told what the perfect product is.
- hope that helps..
hare_sa 07-15-2006, 02:47 AM Hey guys, tnx a lot for detailed answers ... I will take a few advices and go for it. Will see what is going to happen, I hope it will be positive ;)
Tnx again!
ServerOrigin 07-17-2006, 04:01 AM Never worked here, most of the visitors are there due to redirects or popups... We spent hundreds of dollars with 4 different companies on "targetted visitors". We got 2 signups and I think those actually came from Yahoo heh
hare_sa 07-17-2006, 04:05 AM It not about signups ... I will not provide any signup or selling anything through web site. I just want for my site to be visited with targeted visitors. Who jnows maybe some day they come back for regular visit.
So i think buying a targeted visitors will maybe work for me ... I hope I am doing a good thing, if not ... tell me!
Albert_chu 07-17-2006, 11:28 PM if your not intending any sign ups, then sure, theres no problem with buying site traffic.
