Before anyone says "Go search the forum!"...I have...many times...but I seem to get a lot of contradicting statements because of changes made with the companies and dates and users...and yada yada...

Anyways, I want to know who is the best place to register domains. Basically...We have our domain and site and our own nameservers. We will be hosting websites and need to register other peoples domains if they want us to do it. We have sofar been thinking about going with Godaddy.com. We want to be able to register the domains easy enough, have them point at our nameservers, and be able to access the domains to change details if necessary. Godaddy.com has 8.95 domains and that's exactly the price range we're looking for. Are they good? Any others?

I recommend considering the following three-OpenSRS, Dotster, and Enom.

OpenSRS is unbeatable in terms of service, price per domain is $10, upfront expenditure is $250, you are responsible for your own credit card processing.

Enom is very solid, but up front cost is minimum of $450. Price is $8.95, but you are responsible for cost of credit card processing.

Dotster is incredibly simple, no upfront, they handle the credit card processing, costs, and risks, but the price is $12 per domain.

Nothing really wrong with Stargate, just not my personal favorite based on their whois sharing and based on their promotion.

As to Godaddy, many people love them. However, I don't. I don't like the fact that their retail price is less than you can afford to charge and that they market so heavily to their customers (marketing that competes with you).
