View Full Version : I Don't Get It -- People aren't buying..??

Hello,
This is what I don't get. I've taken every measure to ensure that people would at least somewhat trust us (even the most skeptical). I've offered a money-back guarantee, I don't offer unlimited bandwith (thats a laugh to those who do) and I don't offer unlimited space (offering that is ridiculous). So, why aren't people signing up for hosting with me? I have some the cheapest prices around and everything we do is legit. Help please?

P.S. I advertise a lot. Not spam though.

One reason could be that your site isn't responding. At least for me it isn't.

unlimited everything for $2.95 a month , that will get em.:D

How long have you been in business? It takes a while, I have had people visit our site 15 times over a month and then come back and order. Very few sign up the first visit. Where are you advertising is it targeted?

There is nothing that beats good ole human local contact, this is not a get rich quick business and you are not going to build a better mouse trap and have the world beat a path to your door.
There are thousands of web host out there for people to choose from you are just one of many.

Once you do get a few customers tho give excellent service and word of mouth will get around and more will come, it takes time, but it will happen.

Wish you the best of luck

Might want a bit of improving on your site, and make it just targeted to domains and hosting.

My site may not responding for some since I just re-registered the domain and changed registrars. DNS is still updating around the world .. a friend of mine just now got his updated.

Yeah, I wasn't loooking to get rich quick. I'm just trying to provide something better than whats being offered. Tired of seeing crappy hosts and I figured since I got the knowledge, why not? I will be marketing locally though...

Do you think me offering a 15 day free trial would help?

We give away alot of hosting... To my friends, who will reffer other friends for paid service.. Open source projects...

And also we give accounts to hosting sites, and then they usually sell resold space to their customers for a hosted and designed solution....

It doesn't really cost us much to offer the amount of free accounts we give away, so not a big loss...

customers and give great service that is what it is all about.

There lots of good host and lots of bad host out there, but it seems most people have to go thru 10 or so bad ones before they decide to go with a good one. People still read the unlimited crap and believe it they still think for $2.00 a month you are going to get 10 gig of transfer and true 24/7 support. It takes a while before they come to the conclusion that they have to pay to get good service. And some never learn I have seen many come here after their host have closed down, lost their account, treated them like crap and all they care about is how cheap can you give me a 100 Gig for a few months later you see em back asking for the same thing.

I personally sit on my puter about 12 hours a day everyday working, now if someone really believes I am going to do that for 2 bucks a month they are nuts and there is no one else that will either. I have to pay someone to work while I am not here and they want allot more than 2 bucks a month for it.
My point to this rant is that my customers pay a little more but all of them are happy, they get on time responses to their questions they get honesty and service.

Give that to your customers charge a price that will make you a profit and soon the customers you do have will tell all their friends "I have a great host" etc and word of mouth spreads.

Not sure what the deal might be but one obvious reason would be the site isn't up.

To be realistic you have to find a medium with your customers, ie. the services they want. As a consumer myself I honestly don't buy just because of price, but reputation, quality, service, etc. You mentioned price which, true matters, but not in the long run, not to a long term customer ... most of the time. Try doing a promotion and try getting the name out, potential customers have to know who and what your doing first. Also try giving them a sense of community with your company.

Just my 2¢.

I agree with THE ProHacker, I gave 10 free lite accounts out to friends before we opened, then after we opened, we posted here at WHT and at FWS and within 3 days had quiet a few customers, all of which are currently happy. (several of which came from my friends referring people to me)

WHT and at FWS

I know what WHT is but what is FWS ?

The site is down because I just updated my DNS records. Some people can see it some can't.

hmm....

I think I'll take the idea about offering free websites to non-profit projects. I decided that I'll do a 15 day free trial and look for ways to promote through friends, relatives, etc.

FWS isnt as good as wht (nowhere near it) but it is a place to spread word on your hosting biz.

Somehow, you need to build up a client base at the start... get a few customers and make sure they're happy and use them to help spread the good word about your site.

You can give your first few customers free hosting for 6 months or something just so they get to try out your services. Start some sort of a community/support forums so people looking for hosting can see how dedicated you are to support and they can read about what your other customers think about your service.

I also think that if you contribute (not spam) but contribute to other forums, it will spread the word about your company and as a result, you gain some traffic...
