Ok, We got our new Raq 4i thinking we could throw in another 30gig drive and load up the 4r OS, at least thats what everyone has said to do and its supposed to work. I even did the CMOS restore tip, but it doesn't work. It checks some stuff then shuts down services and reboots to its normal config never bothering with the 4r OS disk. Everything is setup to do a restore, it works with the 4i disk, just not the 4r. Is there some sort of new check that Sun put on to prevent this shourtcut all of a sudden? Anyone?

Hello
30GB drive will not work using Cobalt RAQ4i OS Restore
You have to use 20GB or Less
Model ST320413A or ST320410A Seagate 20.4 or less
you can use other manufacture.

Actually, download the latest version of the OS Restore. The same restore cd will work for 4i or 4r. The latest version addresses the issue of the 30+ gb hard drives.
Also, ensure that you are using the proper patch cord and network card. I have run into the situation where I had a cat 5 patch cord and it would not work. I bought a different cat 5 cord and it worked. The sympotoms that I experienced was that the server would start booting up and then start formatting the hd. It blew through the hd format way too quickly and then stuck on Loading Kernel.
Also, make sure that you are using network cable connection 1 and not 2.

To Restore RAQ4i or RAQ4r use cross over cable that is the best way.
Make sure you have correct NIC Card on your PC
