ok, for some reason when i go to go see a mission it speeds up really fast so i can read the dialogs nor hear what they say / see the pictures... I have missed alot of the actions ince im on island 2

What i have tried -

1) Turned off trails (whatever that does, someone said that would help)

2) Un installed game, deleted all files and folders for GTA3 (saved backup game) and restarted, then re installed.. i tried it both without installing my saved games and without (without first)

3) NO, i dont have the 'No-Cd' patch installed

anyone know whats up? this kinda sucks, or do i have to wait for patch

-----------------------
here are my specs
GTA3 PC

40GB Hard drive
AMD Athlon 850Mhz
256MB PCI 133( it think) Ram
Geforce3 Ti200 64MB
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
Win2k

is there any settings in GTA3 that i might of changed by mistake, or buttons

i might be wrong but i believe reading somewhere that the game has a problem with the geforce cards, i believe the fix was either a patch from the game manufacturer or a update to the video card drivers.

No, you're right. I read about the issues with Geforce cards as well.

know where i can find such a patch?

next friday is when Rockstar will release the first actual patch for GTA3, i might be able to wait but the patch you speak of might be worth a try

If you have a Geforce viv the nVidia website:
http://www.nvidia.com
the Detonator drivers....

you may need to do the MS patch as well.....
check the readme on the cd for that addy....

I'm on the 3rd island already...and have about 5 missions to go...
Lately, I've been taking all my aggression out in killing ppl in the game... hehe

If you need more help, just let me know...

Actually the fix is a windows DDL file, available via the 'doesn't to return from hibernation' fix for XP. Take 2 Interactive's website is where you want to be for errors. The issue was text messages being solid blocks of color, rather than words (been there experienced that)

The only other issue I had with XP was a Logitech Wingman Rumble Pad. Wouldn't work at all - I just kept spinning in circles. Replaced it with a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Analog and it was gaming bliss.

The patch should fix a lot of things but I've noticed from gta3forums.com (when it's up), that people have odd issues no-one else does, for no apparent reason. Framerates are a big one. Some guys with killer machines are suffering under 20 fps. This little 800 duron with Geforce II MX 64 is doing fine, beyond a small cache issue (still can play at 1024x768 in 16 bit color though.

And yes, it is the greatest game ever made... I was playing it on PS2 for ages, and never got slightly bored with it. The PC ver. is just as great and looks better :)

small tip for non US people.. Change your computer's language selection to US English - no more censorship... hookers and blood for all

*chuckle* lots of fun... better than doing to in real life I always say. Umm, another hooker tip.. Once you pick one up, if you shot them dead right after they get out of your car, you can often get your money back.

Now, if that doesn't put the game in a nutshell I can't imagine what will :D

When I first ran the game, the text of the game were blocks of... just blocks... lol

read the readme - went to get the microsoft patch thing, installed - rebooted - worked - addicted - stauton island is a bit confusing!

im on that mission to kill 8 yardies before they are off the street - I've tried like 4 times so far and 30sec after I get the 7th yardie, it says mission failed... grrrrrrrr

anyways, whats after staunton island? and should I do Kenji's jobs or should I do Kenji's sisters jobs? I wanna get to the 'next level' asap! lol

what are you driving for that one? Get the fastest car you can for that mission. Umm, You're just running them down like you should right? :) Spend a little time getting a path set to drive, and try not to backtrack too much. There's a more annoying one with phone boxes coming up if I remember rightly (still getting there in the PC version)

Shoreside Vale is next - with the airport.

lol, i tried most of all the 'sports' looking cars - those things are pretty fast... I also stole couple of cop cars - they last a bit longer in my opinion and are easier to control (im controlling it through keyboard, lol - what do you guys use? - i should invest in a joystick for gaming purposes - not those wheel things tho) and I run over most of em except the first one in the park - cause its kinda annoying to try to run over that guy.

I'm stuck on that one in the PS2 version. I went ahead and have gotten over to the 3rd island but return to the phonebooth to try that one every now and then.

You have to either use the tunel (its a long trip)... or the bridge with the raising draw bridge...

Over in Shoreside Vale, you can fly the airplane (Dodo)... very cool... :)

Or you can use the dodo cheat and fly the car of your choice (or tank) over there ;)

How's the aiming on the pc version? IMO that was the one thing that was lacking in the PS2 version - it was so dang hard to change your aim...

Now if only they had multiplayer....:D
