View Full Version : Anyone see host ads on E-BAY???
viGeek 06-02-2002, 03:10 AM LoL talk about a good laugh, goto www.ebay.com and type in "web hosting". I was reading a few of the 213 items found.
Saw a bunch of hosts, offering unlimited bandwidth, unlimited disk space. And the best of all had to be.
100GB Transfer Per Month, $24 a year. WOW lol
However there are some decent hosts on there, that are offering legit plans. Just alot of junk on there IMO.
phpjames 06-02-2002, 03:35 AM Some of those ads are really funny. Pretty funny that they can get away with such scams but Im sure buyers/customers wouldnt agree.
code_renegade 06-02-2002, 11:53 AM This one is real good for a laugh, as anyone can tell:

I mean, look at this feedback for one thing - he's only ever been a buyer, and whatever he's offering :D
Man, I could go on and on about just how funny this auction is
code_renegade 06-02-2002, 12:15 PM Sorry for another post, guys!
I just HAD to do this one:

On top of bad grammer, there is such a bad case of misleading, you can almost hear the bidder screaming within a week or so.
Someway down the auction ad are the words:
"2 Gigabyte Monthly Data Transfer (2,000 MB)
This revers to the outbound traffic from your web site is considered data transfer. I don't think you will ever use this amount even if you have an eBay like site."
Anyone sees the joke in this?
I better close my eBay window before I make another post like this...
Chicken 06-02-2002, 12:35 PM IMPORTANT:
This is a limited time offer. We might not offer this price again.
Errrrr... it is an auction. There is no 'price'. Very odd people...
fractiousws 06-02-2002, 01:04 PM Will I ever run out of web space?
Absolutely not! We keep the number of resellers on each server to a minimum. It does not matter how big you become, you will never run out of web space.
Thanks, that was a good laugh.
Roy@ENHOST 06-03-2002, 06:12 AM It is almost impossible for decent webhosts to survive in Ebay.
try asking Verio to start an auction for their $24/month plan.
With that money people can buy several unlimited bandwidth and space accounts making them even more unlimited!
I tried some accounts from there. No good. Oneclose down after 4 months of operation. He might be a high school student running the business off his school LAN, I wouldnt know.
And downtime is considered a ritual, I get it everyday.

So what if he has written reviews on his buying experience, and hasn't recieved one.
I have purchase many many items on ebay, and never once have I written a review. I am sure there are more people like myself there also.
Therefore the 'insult' to this person based on his userrating is uncalled for. The unlimited space and reason for is a different story however.
code_renegade 06-03-2002, 09:41 AM Taking things a little too seriously, aren't you, Sain Cai?
Research the items he buys - gives you a clue that he is just someone trying to make a quick buck. All those ebooks and hosting things that he buys is a dead giveaway that he does not have the ability to deliver what he promises.
Of course, no insults meant on his low user rating. Some of my fastest and friendliest bidders were pretty new to the game too. Then again, so were the NPBs...
And yes, according to the topic, the joke was about what he was offering. And coupled with his feedback profile (of what he buys), it becomes an even bigger joke. ;)
getweb 06-03-2002, 04:18 PM Continuing the listing of funny items, the following *happened* to be purchased by this same seller.

Freedom of speech aside, there should be laws against creating popup software with the intent to distribute.
