Ok, I DO NOT understand this. Why do people start bidding early on items in ebay. This is assuming there is no reserve. I mean if a acution has three days left why bring something from 10 to 100. Why cant everyone just wait tell the last 3 min and jack the price up then. I have some feeling that if they wait the price might not go as high. I do understand that the price could go just as high in the end. But still, why bid on something so soon. I just dont understand people. BTW, does ebay send out emails like 5 hours late? I got a warning three hours after the auction ended that the item I was watching was about to end. :0

I bid early and high because I always forget about the auction. I also do not have time to sit and monitor the auction itself.

The main reason from my experiences for bidding early would be to eliminate the "Buy It Now" feature, assuming that it has been enabled for the auction.

Good point, I never really thought of that. Granted most early bids that I have seen dont appear to go past reserve(assuming there is one), but a good point none the less
