Hi, I am looking to provide free hosting for my site visitors. Basically we got some money to burn and the boss thinks that we can receive some publicity.
I am looking to provide my visitors with a basic package with no banner ads. Maybe 1gb bandwith per month. I have checked fasthosts (and before this topic is flamed!) i wanna ask how much bandwith do they provide? I know that Fasthosts claim to give 'Unlimited' bandwith but there must be a limit to their claims?
Is anybody on their reseller account and how much is your maximum bandwith 'limit'?????
Thanks in advance.

Might want to look at their TOS first.

As Roly says....you get 10GB for the whole account and 2GB max on any single domain ;)
If you've money to burn i'd look elsewhere!

I would not take any of Fasthosts services. Look elsewhere.

Also rule out Donhost (in case you've been considering them as well). They may claim to offer 50GB of bandwidth, but they will shut you down long before you reach this.
For reasonable reseller accounts I recommend MCHost and SplashHost.

10 GB??? So the salesman was talking a load of crap. He told me that some of their top resellers had over 500 accounts on one account!! Which I thought was a bit of a lie.
10 GB isnt a lot for what we had in mind.
So how do you resellers sell make your money if you pay over £400 on a reseller account and can only host a maximum of 5 domains?
Are there any suggestions for good, inexpensive hosts??

2GB is the max data transfer that a single account can do...you can have hundreds doing a few k / month though!!!

Most resellers accounts will not restrict you to the number of domains you can host. You will find you can host as many as you wish as your resellers will accept. (If you have 2 GB space, you can host as many domains till your 2 GB limit)
Also, what you should keep in mind is Fasthost charge extra for control panels, databases, webstats, FrontPage extensions...etc so the price you see (£500 ex vat at the moment) is not the price you will end up paying.
Any good host will include these features as standard.

They give you 20GB and you can use up to 20GB.
Anyway, if you are looking for publicity, don't go with FastHosts unless your boss also believes that no publicity is bad publicity.

I used to be with FastHosts and well, they're not bad... a bit disappointed with the fact that you have to pay extra for the control panels.
Ended up deciding that getting a dedicated server is actually cheaper than being a reseller at Fasthosts plus you get more control over what happens.
Chicken, you know stuff like "<<MOD NOTE: Sadly this spammer won't be able to get their PM's as they've been banned>>" actually scares me... i've seen this quite often around these forums and it's just sad... and I keep thinking to myself, I hope I'm not spamming the boards with all my near useless talk coz I don't wanna be banned... :(
