Some of you might recall that I was having a bit of trouble figuring out what to ask for slyde.com (the person contacted me). Well, I asked for $600 and got an offer for $500 back (which is what I was hoping would happen). Well, it had been quite a long time since last contact (4/17) and I pretty much tossed that one in the ohhh well pile, not going to happen. Today, a check comes, heh...

Been so long I had to look through the emails to remember what the heck domain it was for! First sale of a domain, so I'm happy...

Yea! :D

Sounds like a tidy profit. I'm really at a loss on deciding how much domains are worth, and even these appraisal things are a load of lies. I guess the price all depends on the person who's buying it , and their motives for wanting it. Obviously if it's a big name generic then there are no problems - but if only I had one of those!
I've sold two domains in my time, follower.org for $600 and shellz.net - can't remember how much I sold that one for!

Best regards,
Francis

Yeah, well I was contacted about another domain I own boomed.com (I thought it was raining eggs!) and I got a bit cocky (pun intended) and offered ummm, $1,500 and they never responded, heh. I figured maybe I'd get $600, but errrr... well... hmmmm... maybe I should contact them again and offer it as a 1/2 price SALE!!! Whoooo-hooo! Act now!

I think it is a crap shoot. Others have sold domains for $4,000, but you'd have to start higher than that, and I guess you just gotta be willing to throw some outrageous amount out there and see what happens. Overall, domains aren't worth more than $10, so really, anything above that and you did ok (my thoughts).

You said it was the first domain name you've sold. Do you own many of them?

When you say "Overall, domains aren't worth more than $10...", I would kind of disagree. There are lots of domains that aren't worth the price of a postage stamp but there are some domains that are worth a whole lot more.

Anyone here ever sell a domain for more than the $600 Francis mentioned?

Most of them are just doing ab-so-smurfly nothing. I buy some to sell (which I never seem to acutally get around to doing, ebay or afternic, etc.). A few I actually have plans for (top secret, fun stuff for all you guys here and elsewhere, hopefully). I should get on that now actually...

Before I knew anything about the domain sales area I sold some domains, it definately pays not to be cocky, I was and it cost me, still got $1000 for the name which I cannot talk about. If I was not cocky I would have had $2000. Now, thats a lot of dosh to loose from attitude.

Some u win some u loose.

I actually turned down a couple of $1000 bids in the past years and now I'm to proud to crawl-to-the-cross and say "I'm sorry and I changed my mind and I would love your money and...boohoo"
