Hello,

I've been reading lots of info here at WHT.

I just have a few "newbie" questions in order to get started.

Lets assume I have a dedicated server with CPanel/WHM.

What additional software do I need in order to allow customers to signup through my website and for me to get paid? I'm guessing there's a script which I add to my website. Once the customer has signed signed up through my site, how do I configure it so the account is created automatically/manually (within a few minutes) as payment is recieved? I'm assuming it has something to do with WHM and the billing software.

I know these are pretty simple questions, in case you're wondering, I won't be getting into it right away, not for a few more years anyway.

Thanks for your help.

After having a look at Helm, I'm VERY intrigued by its features, especially the built-in billing system which sounds amazing. And just what I was looking for "Use the Signup Script Generator to signup new users instantly from your own website".

Now, the only problem is, a customer may not be familiar with the control panel (Helm) and would much rather perfer CPanel. What billing system should I use if I decide to use CPanel as my control panel? Will the billing system allow me to take orders directly from my website? Will it allow me to specify if I want the accounts to be created instantly and account details sent to the customer?]

Thanks for your help.

When I first visited this forum back in 2001 people were saying that there was too much competition, unlimited bandwidth was the trendy new way new hosts tried to compete with the existing providers - by competing on low prices for mega features

nowadays we have impossible plans for crazy prices (the equivalent of unlimited bandwidth back in 2001-2002) and people are still saying there's too much competition...

I'd recommend not to bother unless you have mega $'s to sink into the business, by the time you get in the industry will have changed creating even more barriers to your entry.

I'm still curious though, even if it doesn't work out for me, it will still be a good experience. :)

Hi,

Well all is set for you, now you need to have your e-commerce solution integrated to your control panel to have a automated billing solution when a customer prefers to buy from you.

I presume you would be going with Cpanel as you have it as a dedicated server already, its better to stick on unless it does not give you any pains.

If you are open to options i can suggest Ensim which is my favourite.
