View Full Version : Chatcircuit
Hello Everyone,
I've been searching through the forum and I haven't been able to find much feedback on Chatcircuit.net AKA chatcircuit.com. In fact, I've only seen one post of feedback and that was from a long time ago.
I know the owner seems to frequent WHT but I was just wondering if anyone's had personal experience with this company. The domain chatcircuit.com dates back to '96 and chatcircuit.net is from March of this year.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
manja 06-03-2002, 03:22 AM i was with chat circuit for about 48-72 hours. my decision to go w/another provider shouldn't reflect poorly on them at all. basically, after spending too much time reading in the forums here, i had thought chat circuit supported a particular feature that was crucial to me (complete oversight on my part), and went ahead w/getting setup w/an account and new domain.
i relayed my concern to vic, who runs chat circuit, and he offered to look into the situation and see if that was something they could do, since they didn't support it at the time. unfortunately, it was a no-go, and even though the mistake was entirely my fault, vic gave me a full refund and assisted me in the domain transfer.
all throughout the process he was very professional. i think that quality of service is rare these days, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
zRedDice 06-03-2002, 10:48 AM I've been a reseller with chatcircuit for a while. From what I hear, they have over 300 customers. I've been 100% happy. The servers are fast, the support is instantanious (or near so, 20 minutes max wait), and the servers stay upgraded. There's no SSH, but for the support and the uptime, I have no complaints.

zRedDice 06-03-2002, 06:31 PM On top of my above post, there has been zero downtime in the last month.
The pricing is some of the best there is, and you get a lot more than you pay for.

STracey 06-03-2002, 09:57 PM I am glad to have found this forum. I was seeking advice on this webhost as well.
A few days ago, I sent an Email to the chatcircuit help desk with a few questions but I haven't heard back yet. Since there seem to be chatcircuit customers here, maybe you know the answer to some (or all) of these questions..
I noticed some people said they had to leave because certain features were missing. Was it anything major like Perl, cgi, PHP, MySQL, etc. problems?
Are custom error pages allowed?
Someone mentioned SSH is not available. What's the alternate method to backing up databases?
Any idea what version of PHP, Perl and MySQL is being used?
Are there domain name transfer fees?
Is chatcircuit hosting okay for regular sites that don't need IRC or is it better for IRC clients? Not sure what the difference is.
What is the difference between chatcircuit.com and chatcircuit.net?
I noticed some of the links are broken on the chatcircuit.net page. Anybody know why?
This company is my top pick for the moment but I can't move forward until I know a little more. All feedback is welcome.
freehtml 06-03-2002, 10:56 PM Yes SSH is disabled and no they will not enable for you, which is my case.
I appreciate everyone's comments. I am a brand new customer of chatcircuit thanks to you all!
I just wanted to take a moment to say I've had a thousand questions - not because of anything chatcircuit did - just because I'm a newbie.
Vic has been outstanding with his help, super-patient and his replies have been very speedy. I'm pleased to have found such personal support under such a professional setup.
