We are looking for a very dependable (maybe even Los Angeles-based) Internet Veteran that has either had many years of experience with numerous UNIX-based web hosting accounts/websites and domains or has worked extensively in support positions of fast-paced web hosting companies.

We require fluency in most FTP, HTTP, HTML, Telnet, Email and DNS issues. Familiarity with Plesk Control Panel as well as ticketing software such as Perldesk a plus. Some Perl and Java knowledge will be helpful as well.

We require availibility of 4 hours/day, 6 days/week to answer support emails and calls as well as some sales/information inquiries. The position is on a 1099 basis and open immediately. We pay a flat monthly fee of $600. Work can be done from home! If you are interested, please email your resume and description of your prior web hosting experience to us at brn@dr.com.

hi, i might be interested in your offer...depending on what hours you need me to work. would it be fixed? i have another local job that i need to work at and i'm finishing school, but there is still some free time for me to troubleshoot things like telnet, ssh, http, ftp, email and html. i know a bit of php, not perl and java so much; however, i have used plesk before. feel free to reply or just email me directly.

bnr: is www.dr.com 's site yours? I noticed that's where your email is at, just thought you'd want to know it isn't reachable on the web, if that matters. :D

Though its not WONDERFUL, you ARE working at home and don't have to pay taxes on it.

Um... even if you are working from home you still have to pay taxes on whatever you make at the end of the year......

And also a side note..... $6.25 an hour won't attract many qualified people....

If they're doing a 1099, then the income is being reported to the IRS with your SSN so you're taking a chance with the IRS if you dont declare it. You would not only have to pay federal income tax, but as a sub-contractor you're also responsible for payng both the employers and employee's share of FICA (Social Security) tax. So that's about 15% for FICA plus whatever your tax bracket is for income tax.

Ouch, thats a lot of taxes...

I'm glad us Canadians don't have to pay those US taxes, only our income taxes.. which are twice yours... which means we are just as screwed... damn.. oh well...

I would reccommend contacting ryan up there... He has helped me out with a lot of things and does a very good job of it.

$6.25 an hour isn't bad if you are able to do other things at the same time, preuming there aren't more things to do than you have time for.
