View Full Version : LPanel
BluFX 06-30-2006, 12:32 AM The folowing is a short review on LPanel.
I use LPanel for billing on my website, <<Snipped>>
I have had a few problems (server-related, php configuration) with it, but i got in contact with the tech support department, and they were cheerful and ready to help me out. Very professional, and very reliable.
LPanel is designed specially for hosting, so it comes pre-packaged with features such as auto-activation, where the minute the client signs up for hosting, LPanel creates them an account in WHM, registers the domain (if you have it setup that way), and gets the client all set up and ready to go!
You can check out their website at: www.lpanel.net
any questions? anyone else use lpanel? let me know
Oh yeah and:
:lovewht:
Sohan 06-30-2006, 11:11 AM I found the support to be very slow. The admin panel worked fine, but i didn't like the feel. The frontend was horrible, and hard to skin. It had quiet a lot of steps, and didn't support UK / Europe phone numbers well.
BluFX 06-30-2006, 11:30 AM strange, because i found it very easy to skin, very organized, and fast support
mabey you insulted them or something? :P
The order page is extremely easy to customize. However the member's area is probably a bit harder, I haven't really checked it out.
The price is kind of steep as I rather spend the $20 towards Modernbill or of something equal in features. But its fairly easy to use and its straight-forward. I find it hard to find what you need in Modernbill quickly.
I also agree with BlindBasher, the support is HORRIBLE. I opened up a few tickets and didn't get a response for a week or longer. One was about them re-installing my Lpanel, which is money in their pocket, what company doesn't what someone else's money? Also their forum has a lot to be desired. Usually if you accidently post a question that has already been answered you'll get a nasty reply from the Admin about it already being posted, you're thread might be deleted, and you're left wondering if you even posted it or not.

I don't understand why anybody would want to use modernbill. I used it for about a week, it was IMPOSSIBLE to set up. i also encountered a very very rude person on the phone when i called to ask a pre-sales question.

Ive never had a bit of trouble. I get a response within 10-15 minutes usually.
How long ago did you contact them about that?
peace :peace:

I agree Modernbill is a pain to setup. I have a small group of clients, so spending hours to customize something that isn't going to be used much wasn't exactly appealing.

I have closed the tickets since and had someone on WHT fix my Lpanel for me. My Lpanel was down close to 2 weeks. The responses I got from them were one-liners that provided no help whatsoever.
mrzippy 07-01-2006, 04:32 PM Many of our resellers who try lpanel report back to us that support is slow or non-existant.
Sohan 07-02-2006, 05:34 AM 1-2years lol. Modernbill's support has actually improved alot. I get responces within 2-5mins now!
iqbal 07-02-2006, 08:40 AM thats quite unusual.
how can it take 1-2 years?
BluFX 07-02-2006, 12:10 PM its strange that im the only one whos had good support :P
guess they just like me :P
Dave - Just199 07-02-2006, 12:17 PM Lpanel's support has gotten alot better lately, The one thing that I dont like is their domain registration setup.
Enom is all you can use for full integration and it doesn't fully register the domain name, you have to go into the panel and tell it to proceed with the registration which is all well and good for security but it negates the whole instant automated signup process.

I meant i used them 1-2 years ago!
Canaduh 07-03-2006, 12:56 PM Well I will have to second that as their support SUCKS. They have a great piece of software and pretty much bug free. Missing a few features that some of the other scripts out there have but nothing major.
Their only problem is answering emails. The last few weeks it has been terrible. I get all the excuses I was here, we were there and so on. Last time I checked anywhere I traveled I had a connection. So will be moving on to try another script out. Just seems so funny that these guys just don't want to make any money. You even get to the point where okay I'll give them a try and go to signup and it takes days to get an answer.
The biggest one for me is their forums where they delete all the post that have negative remarks about their company. Grow up and learn from your mistakes!

Hahahah. I completely agree with you on their forums. In one thread there were so many edited replies because the question was already answered once. If WHT did that, they would need a whole lot more mods, and the thread counts would probably be a small percentage of what they are today.
I did submit a bug report and got a response within 36 hours on how to fix it, which was just re-installing the upgrade. That regained some of my faith in them.
JordanT 07-03-2006, 06:45 PM I currently use Lpanel as well as distribute it (for much less than $20, heh :)). I must say their support is supurb and have never had to wait over 45 minutes for a response.
They were always more than willing to help me

ihostdev 07-04-2006, 12:38 AM We during the time we used Lpanel have only ever had good experiances with there support also
Canaduh 07-09-2006, 10:21 AM You will all love this one. This is a quote from our friends at Lpanel.
"we do not offer forum support so if you posted something that did go without a response then that may be why. We try to monitor the forum as much as possible but the ticket desk is our main priority."
First point: I did 4 tests at random times of the day, during the week and weekend. I posted on their forums a small negative remark about their company and guess what all of them were removed with in an hour. HAHAHA WOW that was fast!
Second point: Ticket desk is their main priority. Well then maybe they could've answered the 3 tickets that I had open with them that took longer then a week to just get a response back.
Third point: Stay a way from LPanel if support is any issue to you. It SUCKS.

I was the one (not Lpanel) who deleted your post and I sent you a PM explaining why.

Why don't you PM me all of the open ticket id's and i will see if they exist.
dlawhh 07-19-2006, 05:06 PM Yes use it, no never had any issues (that I am aware of, 1 of 3 people that would deal with support issues) with bad/late support (actually, I ended up emailing the guy we dealt with for one thing and he emailed back reply email and 3 others within minutes, so I was happy for the quickness). Never any issues (again - known of) with skins/etc - another person within company deals with that, and Im sure if there were issues, I would have heard about it. :)
Is it the same, when you have a "computer problem" (that you state) and its really common sense and the operators error, not the computer, does that work with people having bad customer service issues? Could it be how the issue was handled on both ends? Not meant as flame, but I dont understand when I read this ("I had a bad experience") for something that I/many others use as well without *any* problems.
loudNRG 08-04-2006, 06:42 PM Starweb - Did you ever get a reply?
StarWeb 08-04-2006, 06:44 PM Starweb - Did you ever get a reply?
No, I never did. The guy is either a cracker or .... I couldn't find anything that resembled the user in question in the LPanel ticket system.
Is there anything that I can help you with?
loudNRG 08-04-2006, 06:47 PM I dont see LPanel in you sig whats your association with it?

loudNRG 08-04-2006, 06:55 PM Okay - then I guess you are the fellow to talk with about LPanel. I got a webhosting biz with 170 clients and either need to migrate it away from Modern Bill or sell the whole business - its a pain as I dont have time to run it and am looking to make it easier.
StarWeb 08-04-2006, 06:59 PM Well, first you can go to lpanel.net and sign up for a free trial and then create a support ticket addressed to MikeJ and I will help you with your MB import.
I am always looking for business would you like to tell me more about
loudNRG 08-04-2006, 07:02 PM Well - I purchased a web hosting business and it requires a lot of work and I dont have the time to take care of things. Thought it might be easier to flush modern bill and convert to LPanel or other platform for ease of use. Not sure whether I should bother with this or just sell it off and cut my losses.
StarWeb 08-04-2006, 07:04 PM In that case why don't you just post it in the hosting related offers and requests and let it go.
loudNRG 08-04-2006, 07:05 PM I may just do that - if I get some interest then that would be great, if not may have to clean it up a bit and see what can be done.
jerett 08-08-2006, 01:54 PM The one thing about lpanel that I find is a bit lazy on design is the use of tables and not making them look appealing in firefox. Who uses border anymore? Its time to get with the times guys. Its ugly to see borders in FireFox when ordering or submitting tickets.
