View Full Version : hostign companies in australia?
killmaster 06-01-2002, 12:44 AM Ok I know there are hosting companies such as
http://www.hostmagic.com.au
which are at a cheaper price like the price I am after is something like this - -
http://www.aletiahosting.com/hosting/
- -
don't go there though aletia hosting are crap.
but are there any cheap australian hosting companies with cheap plans and realiable support and hosting - I would prefer it if they where in sydney but hey either way as long as they are in the same time zone.
thanks
I can whole heartily recommend AussieHosts (http://www.aussiehosts.com/).
Gary is just up the road from Sydney ( Brisbane ), but at least it's the same time zone.
Excellent support!
Lats...
dragonhawk 06-01-2002, 02:16 AM That's actually quite a big distance... Melbourne to Sydney is even closer than Syd to Brisbane (I think)...
Same timezone too, except when daylight saving starts, then I think we're an hour behind (or ahead).. never really paid much attention to daylight saving :D
killmaster 06-01-2002, 02:17 AM sounds cool
looks good for the plans
I have to ask these questions.
only cause I have had so many problems with hosting comapnies
1. are you related to him in any way?
2. do you have a website which i can see which is hosted by that company?
3. how long have you been hosted with that company?
4. can you give me a list of other sites which have or are been hosted with the company?
thanks
coight 06-01-2002, 02:19 AM I was just wondering if you required a host with servers in Australia, or Australian based with overseas servers?
killmaster 06-01-2002, 02:22 AM is that what you called shared hosting?
where abouts are you located in australia?
thanks
coight 06-01-2002, 02:25 AM Not exactly,
Most companies like us tend to lease servers from overseas, as bandwidth is much cheaper then in Australia.
US - 1GB - $1.50GB (You can get it cheaper)
AU - 1GB - $50GB
We are in perth.
killmaster 06-01-2002, 02:26 AM where exactly are you or the company located?
killmaster 06-01-2002, 02:28 AM so when you say lease do you mean
you borrow server from over seas and get them delivered r you use servers over there ?

a lot of hosting companies now day's are having a lot of troubles with the business.
I was wondering how long have you been up and running.
Support wise say if there was a problem with a server my site or sites where hosted on would you send an email out telling me?
or make a phone call?
How many people actually work there.
would you mind me asking how many people you have currently hosted with you?
thanks

No, we don't own the equipment, it's stored overseas.
killmaster 06-01-2002, 02:43 AM I hate to ask but are you a real company like dick smith or is this just for personal use in your real time.
Dean Wilson 06-01-2002, 02:44 AM If your looking for an Australian company with Australian servers then try Dedicatedhosting (www.dedicatedhosting.com.au).
I use them for 2 of my sites and some clients web pages, but otherwise I can recommend Myacen as a company with US servers.

$1.50GB
Do you mean dollars ($) or british Pounds (GB) or is this GB for Gigabytes?
coight 06-01-2002, 05:30 AM Sorry I meant gigabytes ;), yes Dean has a number of sites with us and a reseller account.
Aussie Bob 06-01-2002, 06:02 AM there are a few Aussie hosts around these parts who lease their servers from the USA, who work from home and who could have support staff from abroad. They don't have to have a head office. Home based infrastructure is more effecient and profitable IMO.
Chicken 06-01-2002, 11:36 AM Hosting companies in Australia may contact the thread starter off-board.
