I am wondering how do I get my nameservers to work...

I already created them:

ns1.inolimits.net and ns2.inolimits.net

now how do I get them to work so I can change my domain name... inolimits.net to point to ns1.inolimits.net and ns2.inolimits.net .

I also want my other domains to be able to point to ns1.inolimits.net and ns2.inolimits.net

I am really frustrated  and tired of trying to get this to work via WHM.... very confusing  .......

Thank you for your advanced help :D

Have you registered them with a registrar? (such as Network Solutions, Register.com, GoDaddy, etc.) You must register nameservers with a registrar prior to them functioning properly. Nameservers are essentially hostnames, you need to register them -- binding them to an IP address so that major DNS servers on the Internet know where to look for your web-site's IP.

Yes, I registered both the ns1.inolimts.net and ns2.inolimits.net and inolimits.net the IP addresses are assigned to my server for NS configuration.

This is the error I am getting in my email:

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (ns1.inolimits.net) resolves to 64.246.43.21. It should resolve to 64.246.42.14. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

The hostname (ns1.inolimits.net) resolves to 64.246.43.21. It should resolve to 64.246.42.14. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you
believe everything else is correct.

What does this mean?

Do you have a zone setup for both nameservers individually? (i.e. /var/named/ns1.nolimits.com.db & /var/named/ns2.nolimits.com.db) If so, make sure that the A-record in each is set to the correct IP address... additionally, check nolimits.com's zone (as well as your nameserver's zones) and make sure there are NS entries for your nameservers there.

Assuming that you've registered them to the correct IPs, they should then begin to function. However, if not, you'll need to modify your configuration with your registrar so that your local DNS and theirs are the same pair of IPs.

You're using Cpanel, correct? WHM has a tool that will do all the dirty work for you in setting up your nameservers.

Go into your Edit DNS zone in WHM!
Select the domain that the name server relate to and edit

at the bottom were there is space to enter records put the following

ns1 1444**** *** 204.*****.01
ns2 1440**** *** 204.*****.02

Im not sure of the exact setting of the 1440 and the option next to it should NS i believe i dont have access to my whm here to be able to tell you for sure.

Just make sure you enter ns1 ( Just ns one not your full NS1.yourdomain.com) and the rip ip for this domain!

And then press save it will give you errors if something is not working out right for it! you can contact me if you need more help.

Kind regards

Hi,

Try running /scripts/fixndc

See if that solves your problem.

If you don't have root access to the box ask your host to do it for you.

You have not registered your name servers with your registrar, I just did a look up for your domain inolimits.net and your name servers are not listed...

You have to create the name servers with your domain name registrar after creating the the zone files.

Is this your own server?
