Hello,

I am curious as to how long it usually takes to set up something like Zencart. Ideally it would be integrated into a site. There would be only about 30 different products. I am unsure at this point what the payment method will be.

Cheers

Ron

Zencart is pretty simple - by setup do you mean install or configure?

I guess I mean both, it is in the cpanel I have. So I assume it would install automatically and then I would have to intigrate it into the site.. not sure having never done it.

Typically for me

Download distribution, unzip and upload to web host - 30 mins
Install, db setup - 10 mins
Open up site admin for basic configurations - 30-60 mins
Create categories and add 30 products - 90 mins

Total about 3-4 hours

Setup is easy, modifying the template is the part that take a long time. Usually take me about 20 min to setup, took me about 10 hours to put the custom designed template in from an earlier version of ZC when they switched to 1.3

I have a choice of three in cpanel CubeCart, OS Commerce and Zen Cart. Zen Cart was recomended in a post I read here, any thoughts on the others.

Is the setup time similiar for all three?

Can an end user add product easily?

Thanks for the feed back so far, very helpful.

Cheers

Setup time would be similar although Cubecart is probably the quickest of the three, mainly due to the fact that the templates are separate from the code and easier to modify.

As for the user to add products easily well that's something you need to discuss with your clients, show them demos and see which one is best for them.
