I need to build a computer in my Rhino (www.yamaharhino.com has some pix of rhino's if you don't know what they are)

How do I go about this?

I don't think I can use a standerd harddrive becuase it will be shaken to much.

It will be a mini computer and I will use the Mini ITX

Really, thats all I know as of now.

Any suggestions and comments are appreciated!

ALSO

Does anyone know if there is any Sitius Sat. Software for a computer?

Thanks all!

Hitachi makes a line of drives designed for extreme conditions, http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/estar/j4_n4k20_ov.htm

If I may ask... why? If you need GPS just buy one, there are an incredible amount of them out there that are so cheap.

Instead of a computer, get a PocketPC with GPS and bluetooth built right into it. With a flash drive, it should do absolutely wonders.

Build a stereo system in it....? ie; an iPod hooked up to a decent sound system installed around the vehicle so you have surround sound. I don't see why you need to go to the trouble of having a computer

I don't need one but I am going to trick this thing out. Painting it orange, remote starter, full enclosure for winter, custom heating solution, performance exhaust, list kit, chrome wheels, bigfoot kit, sound system, light covers, chrome bumper, tounau cover, etc....

As far as hard drives go I would recommend a 2.5" laptop hard drive. They are designed for laptops so have better shock resistance. Making a shock reducing mounting would help too.

Mac mini or Samsung Ultra Mobile PC. I would go with the ultra mobile... seems to be perfect for what you want...

Whether you go with a custom mini-itx rig or with a laptop, I suggest you swap the hard drive for flash. I don't think your data would last long on a typical hdd. Rhinos don't exactly have cadillac suspension.

You can get 3.5 and 2.5 to compact flash converters for cheap. Some mini-itx's and other proprietary motherboards have them onboard.

From what I can gather, the Rhino is an outdoor rough terrain vehicle. Won't all that stuff you plan on doing to it, kinda defeat its purpose?
